Ouch!

It does look pretty ugly. The only part that would worry me id this

Its gonna cost a prety penny to fix that the right way if you cant do it yourself. Im thinking in the 2000 dollar area.

I would just take a small grinder to it then spray some non corrosive paint on it

Edit: anti corrosive

all the damage is before the mounts/tower. and aslong as the affected areas stay attached to the car in an accident, than theyve served there purpose.

Those parts are mostly the area for the car to crush, id be more worried about the cosmetic aspect.

That couldnt be more far from true. The guy obviously states he is worried about safety. Look at that? The welds are horrible, some look too cold, the ones on the rail are too wide, and the plug welds are shitty at best. None of those welds would come close to passing any I-car requirements. With this kind of work, and especially since it appears the person sectioned that front frame rail. Crumple zones are put into a car for a reason, if that joint rusts the hell out (which it will since the outside wasnt protected...i can only imagine what the inside looks like) the car will not crush as intended.
If it was my car, no way it would stay like that.

ur right about the frame rail, but besides that, it isnt that bad.

Im sure there are more welds than whats shown, and aslong as there are itll be fine. That frame rail is however, not structral but def. critical in the cars safety.

if you can't do the repair yourself its not worth it, how much do you want for the car?

ill buy it from you im also in socal.

what motor is in it.........im thinking in the couple of hundred dollar area, i can use another car right now and i can definitly fix those welds LOL dont worry im not going to crush it LOL

The weld are crappy yes, the rust is bad also but i wouldn't go to have it redone anywhere. It just isn't worth it, the differences in the way it crushes will be very minute it won't matter. just grind it out and spray the anticorrosive stuff on it.

kinda like a cavity just get a filling.

Step one is to find out if everything is straight. If it is all lined up right (the spacial relationships are correct) then getting in there and re-welding it is just not that big of a deal.

I generally agree with the posts that it is primarily cosmetic (impossible to be 100% sure without seeing it in person). Most of that could just be cleaned up and painted over.

+1

take it to a reputable body shop and have them check it out. have them put it on the frame machine and make sure its all straight, if its not, have them fix it.

id get that **** fixed. i had a similar situation with my car and first thing i did before anything was take it to the body shop and have them make sure it was straight and safe to begin with.

and thats solid info.

So i think the smartest things to do is make sure everything that needs to be straight is straight, and MAYBE have just the frame rail re-welded (maybe from the guy that wants to buy the car a couple posts up ) and then sand and paint affected areas.

Dont forget, its just a honda civic, so dont go nuts trying to make the thing perfect, b/c its just not worth it.

the damage should have been reported on the title. if it was not the previous owner may be liable for the repair.

this problem shouldnt have to go that far, it should have been thoroughly inspected before it was purchased.

Any shop that looks at that is going to tell u that its unsafe and is gonna cost too much money to fix, and anyone coming to buy it is going to walk away from it, so just fix the things that need to be fixed and enojoy the car.
