What would be the purpose of this?
Seen a turbo H22 hatch other day and the hose that comes out of valve cover that goes to your intake was removed from intake and ran to a 2 liter bottle..
what would be the purpose of this and what does the hose do?

Sounds like an improvised oil catch can. The general purpose is to keep oil vapour out of the intake, which has several benefits including a potential reduction in detonation.
It's a good idea if you want to take the time to do it properly. It's not just a matter of running a single hose into a soda bottle or a can.

Could eliminating it be good or bad? As in putting one of those filter thingies?Sorry for the

so theres more to it then just a hose in the catch can?
what exactly would have to be done? heheh i like the idea of having a open container underneath the hood..

There is a lot of info about how to make a proper catch can. Beware, some setups will not pass California (possibly other) emission standards.

okay did a lil searchin.. and its all in Forced Induction
can i do this N/A and it still serve a purpose..
the oil vapors still going through the manifold correct?
this will keep engine clean? call me crazy but i think it'd look pretty neat with a bud light beer can under the hood.

Theres a write up in the faq section. I used a water trap that is made for an air compressor. One line goes from the pcv valve threw the moisture trap then into the intake. You can just put a filter on that line or just leave it connected. Ive had mine connected for a really long time and have never seen any tracks of oil in my intake piping.
People do it as a catch can as already stated, but its not really the proper way to vent gases.

Proper way, but pain in the *** and not really worth it unless you got some OD turbo setup.
An even more proper way is to have the vent plugs tapped/welded on the "front" side of the valve cover because the oil wont travel to the front catch can when you rip it
