The schedule is at: http://www.hyper-fest.com/info.html
one 45 min. "H-C practice" on Sunday?
Hondas get
1 hour practice
1/2 hour qualifying
50 minute race
22 minutes practice
50 minute race
Total 3 1/2 hours track time
Wo,wo,wo....wait a minute!
Are you saying that now, the H-C racers will have to "procure" another crew member and fire suit and gas can and funnel to help refuel the car for the 50min race???!!!!???? or will there be a 22.5min race only on each day?
the above needs to be clarified quickly.

a 40 min race?
a 40 min race?
This is the time ALLOCATED for the race. Honda Challenge can use it anyway you want. I suspect the race will be in the range of 16 - 18 laps on each day.

PS I love it when the complaint is TOO MUCH TRACK TIME.
According to the Sat. schedule we have a 15 min morning practice, a 15 min early afternoon qualifying session, and then the race.

Can someone clarify Saturday's schedule for me ... I'm a bit confused.

Race #4 - Sunday 6/30 (Points Only)

As I have said about oh... 100 times or so. The schedule keeps changing ALOT and OFTEN. We just inherited more practice and qualifying time because, as I understand it, one of the formula car groups dropped out.
Damn people, one of the reasons everything gets so confusing is because nobody can manage to have any patience. You guys keep asking for answers before answers are ready to be given. Then **** changes and you get all confused because you've been told two different things. Why the hell is the exact format so damned important anyway? We do sprint races, about 30 minutes or so. Don't you guys think that if we planned a 50 minute or 30 lap race (bordering on an enduro) we'd let you know? Well, I guess not. Thanks for the vote of confidence
.
Believe it or not, Grumpy, Karl, and myself all hold down real paying jobs. We do not talk to each other every damned day because we just can't. The schedule for this thing has changed so many times I've lost count, so yeah, at this point the info Grumpy has hasn't been updated on the H-C website. I just saw it today myself.
Of course, I'm not sure how much that update on the H-C website would have mattered since, judging by my email today, a bunch of people haven't even seen the last update (stating races will be 20 laps or time, whichever comes first) which is about two weeks old. I guess I'm supposed to send out emails every time the website is updated. Sorry, my mistake.
The schedule Grumpy posted above is correct as of right now, and believe me, it is subject to change.
The Honda Challenge races, both days WILL BE 20 LAPS or when time expires. So, if on Sunday we have timing problems, or have to red flag the race because a deer is running loose around the track, hey!!! we might still have enough time to run the 20 laps. Cool huh?
Believe me, if you had seen the emails I have today, coupled with these posts, You'd be pissed to. The best info we had has been there for everyone to see, but nobody checked.
Oh, I'll say it one more time hoping that it will be the last (but probably not).
Summit is controlling the schedule. It changes alot. All we can do is try to keep up with it. It may change again before Saturday.
Damn. At least it keeps changing in the direction of MORE seat time.
Scott, who is going to have a beer and TRY to prep his own damned car.

People ask because they DO care 'what' is going on and 'when' it is going to happen.
It is not an unreasonable question to ask...
Having patience is one thing... but waiting till the last few days before an event to get 'important info' is just not conducive to the smooth operation of an event.

What do you suggest?
And the only thing about the format that is truly, actually important (ie: it effects the way you plan the race, bring crew, spares, etc.) is the race length, which was posted on Honda-Challenge.com 2 weeks ago when I first recieved the information myself.
Ask yourself whether you want to know it or need to know it. Also ask yourself if you've taken the responsibility to seek the information before you assume that it hasn't been made available to you.
provide this (make sure it is correct):
---------------
Race #3 - Saturday 6/29 (Trophy, Points, and Contingency)
15 min Practice - Morning
15 min Qualifying - Early Afternoon
40 min / 20 lap Race (Standing Start) - Late Afternoon
Race #4 - Sunday 6/30 (Points Only)

40 min / 20 lap Race (Standing Start) - Early Afternoon

I don't mean to sound like a schedule fiend.... but as a spectator (like the creator of the thread) having some 'reliable' (accurate) information would help me make better plans for the weekend. Who knows maybe the thread starter only wants to see the Honda-Challenge race and avoid the other stuff that is happening this weekend.
When racers are not even sure what is going on... the schedule issue needs to be addressed
How... I don't know.
I got blasted for asking about the CMP schedule a while back. I have not asked(nor will I ever ask) about a NASA schedule since then. Maybe 'I' (along with others who need info?) need to not care as much about the schedule and let the event happen...

Actually, the "provide this" thing above isn't even correct as of today, which illustrates the issue. You'll also notice that I purposefully didn't post exact times on H-C because they constantly changed as well.
This event is worse than most because Summit is doing the schedule and they have their own agenda. We are getting ALOT of seat time and exposure out of this, but it certainly hasn't been easy. Things change, constantly. I wouldn't even bet money that the schedule we have right now won't change again before the weekend.
As for a regular NASA event... Grumpy makes the schedule based on the entries he has. The number of entries determines the number and size of the race groups and whether or not the instructor/advanced group can be combined.
Now... if all you guys would have your entries in 2 weeks in advance, and nobody ever entered late, and nobody ever dropped out... The schedule could be made 2 weeks in advance and not change.
The reality is that WE, the entrants, very often control the availabilty and timing of the schedule for these events. We, the entrants, rarely do a good job of holding up our end of the bargain and making Grumpy's life easier.
There's a whole lot that goes on with this stuff (especially this weekend) that you guys are clueless about. Please keep this in mind before posting "hey... what the hell is going on here?" toned messages in public forums.
And have a little faith in your organizers. Remember that there is absolutely NOTHING to gain from withholding information. When we get it, you'll get it.

Maybe there are too many people giving out info?

Understand the delima here? Various info from various sources = mixed up info sometimes.

Now THAT's excitement.
