The Dealership dont want to fix my car !
so i brought my car for a valve adjustment this week because my 01 integra was ticking . A couple hours past by and my car was ready they told me it was not the valve and it was safe o drive around .
i was like expletive yeah it all good then a week i drove it and my car was ticking like i had stage 2 cams !! Then i brought it back and told them what happen and if it was covered by the warranty. Today i spoke to them and said that there not going to warranty my integra because i got a modified exhaust but it was always there when i got an oil change and when i did my other couple of valve adjustment there . Now i might i have to pay 1300 bucks out my pocket.
I dont have that kind of money, is it the dealer fault ???? what can i use against them for ******* up my ride !!!
your out of luck man, any minor modification can null a warranty and what does your warranty actually cover? drive-train , etc etc. details would help. it sounds like all you need is a valve adjustment btw.
dude 1300 dollars for a valve adjusment???? r they effin insane you could do it yourself in like a half hour all you need is feeler gauges from autozone that cost like 5 bucks and find out your valve lash specs
well everything what you just said ! but they are saying that and they never said anything before so why are they following orders now !! so is there fault
did you put it on or a shop? because if a shop put it on it shouldnt void any warrenty... did it to my buddies and he got a hell lot more then an exhaust and had a shop do it all and he ended up fryin a lot of crap on his motor and it was still covered cuz he had a shop put everything on and not himself...
They have to prove that whatever you did to your car aftermarket wise actually caused the problem. They're bluffing you. Call them out. Now, if your warranty expressly forbids modifications of any kind, you're pretty much SOL. Find it and read it, thoroughly.
Dealers love to sell warranties because the profit margin is so high. They'll do anything to get out of repair work because, overall, it's a hassle.

i have a hard time believing that even with a reciept that they will do the work. The waranty was on honda parts not anyone elses. Therefore if there was an aftermarket exhaust there is a good chance it may affect your warranty. Like someone said, profit margin is high, to take advantage of them you have to read all the small print.

Sound advice.
An exhaust will not adversely affect your valve train.

i'm not sayin your wrong, and don't get on me too bad if i'm wrong. But if i was trying to get out of doing the work, couldn't they say that by adding the exhaust it may cause the car to run more rich wich could affect the valve train in some way.

I've dealt with arrogant service managers before. If they will not do it, try another dealership. Regarding a simple valve adjustment, that would be a normal service item that would not be covered under warranty. OP, what was the itemized list for the $1300? Were they going to replace the LMAs? If so, that should be warranty and an exhaust is irrevalent.

That would cause a problem...the exhaust wouldnt do anything to the valvetrain

wow. Just wow.
The Stealership strikes again.
Flip it on them and say that the car ran just fine before you brought it to them and if the crank is screwed it must be their fault. Take them to small claims court, threaten to call the better business bureau.
A buddy of mine had a misfire issue and they told him that he needed a new transmission. They will do ANYTHING to bilk you out of your money.
Why don't you try taking the car to a dedicated honda shop for an estimate?

[QUOTE=sixtodc2]They told me that the crank is all busted and the rings are shot out !! [/Qif the crank was "all busted" you would be hearing a crazy metal to metal grinding sound and the car would run like absolute crap i've spun a couple bearings in my life of owning cars and believe me it wouldnt just be a slight ticking sound i hate dealerships that try to absolutely milk everything and anything they can out of people thats why i just do all the work myseld unless i physically cannot or i cant figure out the problem, then i bring it to a shop for them to tell me whats wrong i say ok well dont do the work i take my car back and i fix it
good point, i spun a bearin just a few months ago multiple time... if that was the case your car would be making loud clunk noises, runnin like ****, and when you stomp on gas it like wont wanna go anywhere... they just bustin your ball... deffinetely tell them that its their fault then and that your gonna have a second opinion done now and that you will be contacting your lawyer and the better business bureau...
If you guys think this is bad, wait until you see mitsu dealership.
As for your car, they can't void your warranty unless something caused it. Your aftermarket exhaust has nothing to do with the valves at all. So that's all bullshit. Go find another dealership, and let us know how it turns out.

Call the BAR (Beaurau of Automotive Repair) let them know what happened, they'll let you know what you should do. Dealers and mechanics get real curteous once the BAR gets involved.

Check all your fluid levels oil etc. Make sure there all at proper levels. Get a stock exhaust put it on. Then go to a different dealership and see what they can do for you.
