Default Whoa big problem...

So i just noticed that my radiator fan isnt running. Im not that mechanically inclined but i would assume the fan should be running (especially if the engine is warmed up)

So whats the problem here, how can i go about fixing/diagnosing it? Thanks

ok so the radiator fan should always be on correct? Im a little confused because the temperature gauge is reading normal temps. hmmmmm

anyways i dont know how long ive been running my car without the fan, is it very bad? what kind of damage should i check for? Ill look into the fan tomorrow morning. thanks all.

incorrect... MY radiator fan comes on as soon as i turn on the ignition because the way I wired it... but im BOOSTED so that extra lil cooldown I feel is very necessary... ur radiator fan comes on when the switch tells it "IM HOT NOW" lol, so maybe ur fan isnt busted... let ur car warm up and then see if ur fans on, it shouldnt come on at a cold start, probably take about 5-10 minutes for it to turn on...

The fan turns on when you usually are parked because the car does not need it when you are driving ie the air blows into the radiator and that is enough so when you are idling and the car gets hot the fan will go on, to counteract the air or simulate it, your fan might work you just are not sure, let the car sit for a while and let it warm up and wait and wait until goes on, your cars temp needle should go up if you are idling the car for awhile and the fan doesn't kick in.

No, the fan shouldn't run all the time. it should only run when it is commanded on.

I've never run into this problem on a honda so someone may have to back me up here..on most cars if you pull the pigtail off the coolant temp sensor the computer will panic and turn the fans on (not sure if honda does this but most cars do, some you have to jump across the pigtail once you pull it).

So...if honda's do this then try it. If the fans do not come on then check the fuses. If fuses are good check for power at the fan with a test light. If you have power check for a good ground. If you have power and ground you have a bad fan. If you don't have power but you have a good ground check for power at the relay (coming in and leaving the relay). If you have power going in to the relay and not coming out you have a bad relay, if you have power coming and leaving then you have bad wiring between the relay and the fan. If you don't have power going in to the relay then you have bad wiring between the fuses and the relay.

Ok so i checked the fuses and relay both look good. AC condensor fan comes on when i turn on ac. I let the engine idle for a long time and the radiator fan doesnt come on. Temperature needle shows no sign of change. I tried removing the thermostat wire, as suggested above, but the radiator fan still did not come on. Should i get some jumper wires and try direct connecting the fan to my battery and see if it comes on?

You live in Bay area? How is the weather there?
Maybe the weather is cold enough for the fan not to turn on?
Hey, its almost December!

to test the fan remove the connector from the fan switch on the T-stat housing and jump it with a paper clip, if it comes on your fan and relay are working, but the switch may not be, I hardly ever notice my fan coming on, but my car doesn't get hot

If your car doesn't start to overheat, don't worry about it. The fan won't come on until the car begins to overheat. So even you let it idle for a hour and the temp stays where its supposed to, and the fan doesn't come on, its not a problem, don't worry about it.
