If I repaint it, The paint will most likely be thicker and possibly not match the rest of the car

Go to a respectable body shop to have them do it right, if they do it right they will blend it into the hood and door to make it match.

If it was me I would repaint the fender because if you replace it, the VIN sticker will not be on the new fender which will make potential buyers in the future scared. Just my 2 cents
just get it painted dood, they will be able to blend and match it and you will never notice it was repainted.

I would rather try to find a fender but I do know a good body shop if I decide to do it that way.
Do you think that if you find a fender that the paint on it is going to match your car exactly??
I think not - most likely the new fender would be repainted anyways.
