Default Things to do while oil pan is off?

I was getting my oil changed the other day, and the dumbass who was doing it told me that "a couple of threads came out with the oil pan." My guess is that they were tightening my **** too much and screwed up the pan. I haven't gotten under the car to survey the damage yet, but I'm anticipating the worst since the guy decided to let me know.

If i do put a new oil pan on, what else should I replace on my 170k d16y8 while i've got the pan off? I heard our pumps suck, how hard is it to replace the oil pump?

If you are going to replace the oil pump, you might as well replace the T belt and water pump too, since the front of the engine has to come apart. Change out the front oil seal too, just fer *****. Or you could time-sert the oil pan.

dont get too worried about the bearings, just get a new pan and put it back up....i have never heard of d series pumps always going bad...but for safety you can change the pump but dont get too worried about it...unless you beat on your car all the time then yeah, get a new pump, if not leave the thing alone....if it isnt broken, dont touch it....
