Default cruise control woes

i was driving on the freeway tonight with cruise control on and then something shifted (full front seat) and happened to knock the stick from 5th into neutral. immediately my rpm went up and then i pushed on the brake to disengage cruise control which shut off cruise control. however after that i can not get cruise control to work again. the button with the light on it lights up just fine however when i push the set button on the steering wheel it doesn't engage and does not light up on the tachometer area.

ideas?

Try reseting the cruise control ECU, the easiest way would be to disconnect the battery for a couple minutes, while you could be checking fuses to make sure none of them blew.

That's weird. I did that a few times for ***** and giggles in my DA to see what would happen; it would rev to 5k and then just shot off. It worked perfectly fine after that, sorry I can't help. The CC doesn't work in my Civic if it is any consolation. The light comes on when I hit the button, and everything mechanical is in good condition, so I am stumped as to why it won't work even though the light comes on in the cluster. The horn doesn't work either, so when the car was in an accident and the airbag was replaced the steering column wiring was probably FUBARed.

correct, the ecu doesnt have anything to do with it... but just like your airbags, there is a SEPERATE very small ecu for it in your car also... i know, i took cruise control out... i only use when on a highway but i only use it for maybe 3 minutes at most... i just dont like it... so figured clean the engine bay up a bit...

I read on one of these forums that at least one of the horns HAS to be connected and work for the CC to work.......? No idea if that's true or even why it would be true.

My prelude CC actuator LOOKS fine, all plugs, hoses ok, the switch and dash lights both come on steady (not intermittent). But it won't engage. The dealer wants $92 just to diagnose...... Thanks Mr. Dealer.

Good luck.

Link? That would more than likely be the reason mine doesn't work. I went through and checked everything and it all looks good, but neither of the horns work.
