So I finally got some new tires and a set of wheels imported from JapanLand. Had them installed last week and I've been fixing the problems I've run into since..
But this one I have no idea why it's happening..
My Rear Driver Side has been making noise since I got the tires when I make hard turns. And I was like, do tell me the shocks are going now.
I went for a drive one night to see if I could figure out what was happening and a couple of my roommates came along. One of them suggested maybe the tires hitting the fender well. I had thought of it hitting the fender, but since they're the same size tires didn't think that was the problem. The wheels are wider, but the same size tire.
Played around for a bit and we got out to take a look. Ends up, my bumper is closer to the tire/wheel on the Rear Driver Side compared to the Passenger side. And the tire is rubbing on the head of a screw that's holding the bumper and fender liner together..
Last night three of my roommates and I went out to eat and with all the extra weight in the car, every time I went over a decent sized bump or anything it'd rub against the tire..
I've been talking to a few people about this, but haven't been able to figure out what it is..
My car is on Stock Shocks and Springs at, as far as I know, stock height, as I've never changed it.
I was just under the car and I couldn't see any visible damage..
Here's pictures from today trying to figure out what's wrong:
(I linked them because they're pretty big.)
Rear Driver Side
Rear Passenger Side
Rear Driver Side Tire to Bumper/Screw Gap
Rear Passenger Side Tire to Bumper/Screw Gap
Driver Side Rear Bumper Edge
Passenger Side Rear Bumper Edge
So does anyone have any suggestions on what the problem could be?? I can go take more pictures if needed... I have the Rear Drive Side Wheel off at the moment..

I think I understand what you mean, but it'll take a few to get those pictures... I'll have to put the wheel back on and take the car off the jacks... I'll go snap them real quick...

Ok, so new pictures:
Driver Side Front
45° between
Top
Passneger Side Front
45° between
Top
They're not great, having a little trouble holding the tape measure and taking pictures with one hand.. So the angles aren't very good... I might should just go and measure the gaps and put them with each picture...

Hey Zack ... your kinda measuring in the wrongs spot IMO. How much clearance do you have inside the wheel well. Turn your steering wheel all the way to the right and check if your tires hit the fender well. Do the same thing when you turn left.

Smart guy, it's the rear wheels not the fronts...
Turning the wheel isn't going to do anything...
Edit: Ooooh... I think I know what you're talking about then...
In the second post with pictures, I meant that's the Front of the Rear Wheel, not the Front Wheel..
Sorry for the confusion...

The fronts are fine, only one rubbing is the rear drive side..
How close are they to what spot?? The rear passenger has plenty of clearance all around, the rear driver side has plenty everywhere except for where the rear bumper is.

Yea..
I measured the distance in gaps in the second group of pictures.
Driver Side Front = ~1 5/8"
45° between = ~3"
Top = ~3"
Passneger Side Front = ~1 1/2"
45° between = ~3"
Top = ~3"
So they're pretty close, so I dunno. The size and offset on both sides is the same.. With the wheel off I didn't see anything that looked bent, but I'm also just eyeballing it.. :/
I wonder if something just needs to be adjusted..

Curious, does anyone else with a 4thGen have a wheel well liner on the drivers side and not have one of the passenger side?? My passenger side doesn't have a liner..

I dunno.. It doesn't have any screws or anything there... Also, I see where screws would have the same placement as the driver side, but only two, and there is no where else that screws could go, not where they would correspond to where they are on the driver side..
Thanks for the comment on the wheels though Matt.
The more problems I have from the simple thing the more I just want to rip 'em off and put the stock wheels back on for now.. And go ahead and repaint these CP-F's.t
