Default Open header= too rich to keep running?

I have a open header and it is just until I can ride to go get exhaust....I just did a motor swap (LS) and I can not get it to keep running...I just think its running too rich because of the lack of exhaust, am I right?

BTW I have tried a chipped p28, p05, and a LS ECU with no luck

EDIT: it is a Hytech replica header

I just took a peice off of my old exhaust...and crushed it a bit to restrict flow and it really didn't help

No.

I went from a stock tiny Y7 manifold with built in cat to a open big tube SMSP and it ran fine. Once you get the exhaust on it you'll notice the change in power. After you get your mystery problem fixed.

I worked on a open header ZC circle track car this summer and it ran fine.

Are any of the ECU's you used throwing CEL codes? If your check engine light is on I would get the code(s) fixed.

Adjust your valves. You should do that anytime you change out cams.
