a gauge idea.....
so i have a 98 civic that will very soon be boosted. i think that a pilar gauges are weak( sorry if you have them i dont like them so much). here's my question: im thinking of fabing up a custom fiberglass gauge cluster for my stock cd player location. i'd like to move my cd player to either my glove box, my armrest console, or above my cup holder on my center console, but this really is unimportant. my question is if anyone has fabbed up a 2 or 3 gauge setup for the stock civic radio location? i think that it would be sick to have the gauges there. let me know. if the answer is no i will take my complete lack of skills and try to make something up all by myself. i'll post pics of my ideas or progress... gimme a week ad i should have some sort of idea.
yeah they are called DIN inserts. Defi makes one that already has gauges in it. or you can get something like this... http://www.egauges.com/vdo_indA.asp?PN=PAN-001 then you can put in whatever gauges you want
I made some gauges for mine and a friends car(99 em1). I ordered the radio relocation kit from honda and a triple gauge mount. I mounted them low so the are more so "hidden". Also have the two in the cluster bezel. I didn't like them in the pillar also and thought this was a great alternative. There is some modification i had to do to make them fit. I had to use a 2 in hole saw to open up area behind gauge mount. The triple gauge mount dosen't fit perfect in the oem radio opening down low. The mount is angled up slightly which ended up working out better in the long run. I also used some orange bulbs with red bulb covers. They look just like factory gauges.
