Default Tryng to get 2 1/16" autometer gauges into optional audio console

Well I've installed my optional audio console, and put in the misc tray. I have a plastic gauge face that holds 3 autometer gauge's in it that fit perfectly in the din location normally for the cd player. I wanted to put back in my cd player and move these gauges to the extra din location on the console, to even further lesson gawkers and what not and have found I don't have a full din amount of space to work with.

Has anyone modified the misc tray lip so that you can get a standerd din size item in this free location?

Hopefully this makes sense. I can take pictures of what I'm attempting to do since I'm sure this maybe a bit confusing sounding in text.

Ok here are the pictures

Ok the gauges were in the standerd CD spot. you can see the gauge holder fits a DIN location perfect. Now on the the audio console you can see there isn't that much room to fit this. Do I fill down the top edge of that misc tray to make it fit.

Has anyone else ever set this up keeping the misc tray in?

The more help the better.

hondaautomotiveparts.com

look under the 92 SI or anyother hatch. I couldn't find it under a 93 coupe.

Leave the guages in the stock CD player location, and get a radio block-off plate for a 92 cx from your dealer and use it to cover the guages. Move the radio down to the audio console using the honda optional cd player mount kit. That's what I'm doing.

...or, you could go hardcore, forget about onlookers, and go this route. No radio for me. My engine is my music...hehe

Ha ha I did that all last year Jeff. I decided that this summer I actually want some tunes back I do miss them a little. I'll just bust out the dremel and go to work to make them fit.

As for wear I got it. It got answered above hondaautomotiveparts.com. I always buy from them for my little lost OEM peices and what not they are great!

Yeah, Its not a perfect fit unfortunately but just break out the old flat file and some sand paper and trim til it fits.

Because the cd player I have is a aftermarket that fits in a DIN spot. Just like the gauge face plate. Trimming the plastic gauge face plate I have is much easier than trimming a metal casing unit.

For more redemption it defeats the second purpose of why I got the audio console which was to more hid the gauges when I drive around on the street.

Thanks 92 Slepr I guess that is just what I'll have to do. I'll take pictures once I finish the install up. I have to bring it back inside to do. Damn 12 degree's in a garage is freezing!!!!! IT's time for spring or a forced air heater.

My audio console arrived this afternoon. Picked it up from a guy off ebay for $118 shipped. My interior is blue and the console is black. Oh well, I'm just happy I'll be able to do just as stated above

PS <> Will a standard cd player fit in the lower slot that is for an optional OEM cd player?

Cool! What pocket are you referring to? The one that goes under the audio opening and came with the console? Why wouldn't you use that (not trying to be smart - just don't see what you would use otherwise)?

Iso mount is cool. That's how the Kenwood mp3 player is mounted in my parents 98 Civic. It's 4 screws in the side of the deck that holds it in place. You don't need the metal sleeve or any kind of bracket. I can't wait to get the gauges in and mp3 player. First is the alarm that is going to run me $500.

Viper alarm $500
Gauges $150
Mp3 player $200-250

I have none of these 3

I went ahead and purchased the console since they seem to be more rare each day

I haven't looked at my audio console yet since I won't install it until I get the alarm in the next couple weeks. Anyhow, if you have to iso mount the deck for the audio console opening, then you will ise the 4 little screws that come with the deck and remove the metal sleeve from around the deck. The screws are very short since the metal is so thin on the outside of the radio.

Oh, OK. I think I get you. I don't even think I have the screws anymore, I've had the deck for like five years. So the screws attach right to the metal frame of the console, right? How do I use the pocket? Since that attached to the back of the stock radio.

thats what i did, i did have it on a hinge but i didnt like how it bounced when i drove with it open.

notice the small magnet in the corner above the gauge...

now the radio block off plate needed to be completley cut from the back, there are clips and things that hold the plugs of the radio harness and things, so i used a air grinder to cut them all off and glued steel washers to the corners to stick to the magnets

here it is on the car. notice the radio in the option console and the pocket with a door. also i think the pocket the supply is too big to fit along with a radio.
