home made shift light
I have a ex cluster in my 91 civic hatch. I was wondering if theres any way to hook up a shift light (little led) to the cluster. Any ideas would be great. Thanks
LOL @ this thread, OP you will need an RPM activation switch, you can basically make anything happen with it at a desired RPM, such as enable a light, solenoid, clicker, etc.

unless he wants the fuel economy? But I highly doubt that is the case.

I had an electrical engineer look at this for me. I was gonna attach it to super bright LEDs (ebay has them cheap) and then hid the LED into my vents so my vents light up when it was the shift linkage. The super brights (colored if you chose) can be seen in the middle of the day they are that bright.
Reading the tach wire (signal from dizzy, it's the blue wire on the dizzy) signal, a wave signal, 2 per RPM, can be read and have a program that had a signal to the LED when the RPM I set it at was hit. I was gonna get it programmed and wired for different colored led, orange when I was 1000rpm away from my limit, then red at my limit.
Lazyness took over and I haven't gotten the program done. Oh well.
