Anyone have any opinions on these rechargable models?
With 4 sets of tires now, and the fact I'm going to have to start doing more changes at the track, I thought this might be a decent piece of pit equipment...

Do they have adjustable torque settings or do you have to do a final hand torque on the wheels?
Makita, Dewalt also have a few models. Best value?

I have an 18v Sears Craftsman as well but there is no comparison. This puppy takes off drive axle nuts. No, there is no torque setting but I'd hand torque them even if it did. It's just real nice to be able to take the lugs off with the car in the air and not have to loosen them on the ground first.

I've used both the SnapOn 14.4V and 18V. Both work very well for lug nuts and other common paddock/pit work. Neither have adjustable torque settings (I haven't seen any cordless impacts that do). I just let it hammer twice - it was usually very close to 85lb/ft - and use a torque wrench to check it (whcih you should do regardless of what tool you use to put on lug nuts).
I'm not sure if the online prices are good - find a local dealer (the guys in the trucks), see if his prices are better. Just cover your eyes, it's like a candy store in there, and you will surely buy more stuff than you can afford (luckily, I live wth a dealer, so I get to use all his cool stuff in exchange for beer).

I don't...but I've used one. Whitney has one. It's nicey nice. But for almost 400 bucks...I'd get more tires and a breaker bar. that's just me though.
Check and see if you can find one used - he got his at some sort of pawn shop that had a website, I think it was around 200 bucks.

Man, two things....
#1: Why would you want to go with the wussy 12V, when Snap-On now makes the CT-3850, an 18V model with over 200 foot pounds of torque
and #2: Why the HELL would you pay that much for one? I sell the 3850 for 350 bucks... I won't even order the 12V model anymore.... You want one? I'll hook you up....
Oh, I just wanted to add: The 3850 comes with a 1 hour fast charger, will do 70 CARS worth of lugnuts on one battery, and will remove the lugnuts on my Chevy P30 StepVan... I had a customer say that he would buy one if it could do that.... He owns one now.. hehe....

I think I would buy a portable air compressor, and an air impact wrench.. That way I have the option of bringing extra air tools, and they can be used at home, too..
But I suppose if you aren't trailering your car, that would be tough to carry around.
