Same exact thing happened to me twice and the only thing is I did not feel like pulling the tranny to investigate since it did still work fine.
Heres the crazy part, I swapped the same exact B16 from my wrecked '90 Si and put it in my '89 DX, it already had a stage 1 clutch but the disc went bad so I bought another brand new stage 1 clutch kit and installed it before the motor went in. In my '90 si no problems, in my '89 DX it was stiff as hell and a royal pain to hook the cable back up due the stress on it but it worked fine and since I could not figure out what was up I left it alone.
2 months later I heard a pop and my clutch pedal went to the floor (right around the block from my house)so thinking I broke my cable I made it home and checked it out.........it did not break it only came free from what ever it was binded on because now I was able to adjust to where it was on my '90 Si?????????????????? freakin weird and still unexplained but it's been fine for 3-4 months now since.
The only thing I can figure is the throwout bearing retaining spring came undone on one side making it easier to press the pedal, the reason I think this is because when I removed my throwout bearing from the '90 Si I noticed it was only held on by one side of the return spring and I know I installed it right when I first did the swap on my '91 Si
I have seen a few posts on this when I encountered it and searched like crazy not to mention making my own thread about it, I have yet to read anything about anybody confirming this issue that just so happens to be very, very common among CRX B-swaps more than any other EF.
That's my 2 cents from what I have learned, good luck with an answer cause I still want the definitive answer as well.

but i think im going to save up for a new tranny
but i might try to loosen up the cable for now</TD></TR></TABLE>
Why do you need a new tranny, that will have NO affect on your clutch cable problem at all. and if it's like mine was then you hve no room for adjustment cause the cable is maxed out hence why it is soo tight. if adjusting it fixes it then you just wasted a thread

The hydro tranny, custom mount and bracket needed to run it in an EF is just WAY to over priced and pointless imo. the only benefit that makes it somewhat worth it is if you run a ITR or CTR tranny but you can still just run those internals in the cable ys1 case so again I say the hydro conversion is a hugh waste of money and time. especially if you just wanting to go that route simply cause your cable is real tight......my money says your mechanic won't find a thing w/o taking the tranny off to inspect the throwout bearing return spring.
