Default Am sick of wasting front tyres need help!

Am running on a set of Avo coilovers and the car is sitting quite low. At the mo the front tyres are wearing badly on the inside edge so need advice on what to adjust the toe to? I don't have an adjustable camber kit but read a post that it's the toe you want to adjust when you really deck your car?

It's a 93 EG Civic SiR

Thanks

you get a 4 wheel alignment.

its the incorrect toe that is killing your tires.

if your car is lowered your going to need a camber kit. to get rid of the tire wear. just trying to save you time from going to get an alignment and the dude says your camber is out

That is incorrect. As Tyson said, toe kills tires, not camber.

Get a professional alignment done where they set the toe to 0 (or to factory specs) and you should be fine. Also rotate tires every 5000-8000 km.

Thanks guys, i didi think it was the toe you adjusted not the camber. So will get the toe set to 0 but still think i need to adjust it more as the car is a good 60-70mm lower.

Thanks for the input

I would say that you probably need to look at both camber and toe. I would be gettin a 4 wheel alignment and see what that has to say. while it will be toe that's chewin thru tyres a large amount of negative camber won't be helping the situation either

a large amount of camber helps with handling tho.

short-long arm double wishbone. designed to increase negative camber on the loaded side in a defined motion. its why its better than macpherson strut design.

And your point? You still don't need a camber kit when lowering a car. I think my personal experience over the years with my car is pretty well proof of that fact.

soon as you lower a car your camber goes into the negative side of your factory spec. point blank. not saying it is going to cut a tire more than bad toe but on a lowered car camber needs to be adjusted just as much as toe does. in fact your camber is adjusted before your toe.

soon as you lower a car your toe changes significantly. point blank.

actually, we are saying camber doesnt contribute to tire wear. toe does.

we have seen ppl with good toe and extreme camber get no tire wear.

we have seen ppl with extreme toe and no camber get LOTS of tire wear.

perhaps in your 20 alignments per day, youve seen ppl with "bad" camber with uneven tire wear, but their toe was off too im positive. im sure you changed the toe, thats your job of course. by adjusting the toe alone, you helped their tire wear.

yes, indeed when you change camber, toe is affected. thats why you change camber first. so then when you change camber, you are going to have to adjust toe anyway. its not the adjusting of camber that saved the tires. its the adjusting of toe.

camber doesnt need to be adjusted. negative camber is beneficial and is not what is harmful to tire wear. toe is.

and you dont have to buy anything extra to adjust toe. just pay a guy like you.

(honestly, im not sure how many different ways i can say the same thing....)

I guess some people have just bought into the "camber kit requirement" myth for too long now.

5 sets of tires in 150,000 miles with anywhere from -1.5 to -2.8 camber, yeah I sure don't know what I'm talking about.
