best place to start autoX
alright. I'm brand new at this autoX and RR thing. I want to get off the streets and quit runnin from the cops but still have fun. I talked to a couple people involved in my area (NY/NJ). I heard that NASA is more educational and better for the learning expierence. I want to get out there and give it a shot but i'm not sure if i should register or just go to one and watch for a day. maybe later on in the day they will let me go for a few runs after i sign up and whatnot. anyway, my question is wether to just sign up and figure it out when i'm there or take it slow and watch for a day or something. i don't want to be in the way or be the fool everyone points at. any help on gettin started would be great..thanx
Check with www.scca.org to find your local region. Then contact your local region for an events schedule.

hey kahlua, email me...i'm right in your neighborhood. i could show you the ropes.
There's no time like the present to start. Get your first one out of the way - it will be fun and educational. Don't expect to be taking 1st place or anything - your first year or two will be a learning experience and should set your goals to improving yourself with winning your class as a last resort. The most important thing is to get seat time, seat time, and more seat time.
Every autocross whether it be NASA or SCCA has novice instructors to help you out.

and just incase civicsi racer didn't convey the message, the most important thing that will help u to be a better autocrosser is seattime is what its all about. but just have fun, which won't be hard.
You don't get alot of seat time at SCCA. Try NASA and the smaller clubs. Got 14 runs at the last Mclub event. Got 4 at the last SCCA event.

the site has a schedule of SOLO2 events for the northeast. just go to one near you and tell the registration desk that you are a novice. they can usually find an experienced person to help you out on your first day. that's how i got started/addicted

14? thats alot. was that including the drive through and fun runs? neway, seat time is more like the ammount of events u do. but obviously the ammount of runs u get at said event matters. do one event first. if u like it and get hooked, then u can join the rest of us that run in events every weekend and sometimes double header (like this weekend)
