Anyone know a good way to clean the center console? (ie. where the badge is)
After lots of elbow resting the center console fabric is looking sort of flattened. Anyone have any tips for making this look new again?
i need some advice to , my interior is starting to look like **** . . esp the console, the red stichting is now like black
The interior fabric has worn very quickly on almost every R I've ever seen, including mine. The center console goes to hell, the seat bolsters get worn, and the rear seat tops get UV damage. I've already spoken to my dealer about it, and they will replace the seat skins under warranty no problem. I haven't asked about the center console yet but I'm sure they'd replace that too if I asked. Once the fabric starts to deteriorate I don't know of any way to clean it up though. You could always switch to the JDM console.

it might do a great job , but its not real suade, trust me .
I thought the brochure said suade...
Actually if you read the brochure for the type R it says alacantara. IE: FAKE suede. But yes suede cleaner does work, however after continued use, it will start to wear the alacantara down. And trust me on that. I've been cleaning my '98 R seats for a lot longer then you have on your '01 R.
BTW- try this white bar thing you get with some suede cleaners. This bar which feels like a soft rubber compound helps make the alacantera tons softer, however it will wear down fast.

wtf does it matter. point is its not fake,m thats what he's getting at , and that is what it is , i couldnt rememebr the name though. i forget where i saw it . . . i tell everyone they are suade, but i know they are not .
alacantra is basically fake suede. The design, texture, etc... is all similar to suede. Look at the Audi's, etc... they too all use alacantra. Even BMW, etc... use it also.
I just call it fake suede because it carries almost every suede propriety minus the leather base suede has. Actually the correct way to phrase it as Acura use for our "carbon fiber" is faux suede and faux carbon fiber.
But yeah alacantra is used as a way to keep costs down, etc... since replacing interior and wearing interior is very common. Also alacantra is also more water friendly then suede is, etc...
FROM THE ACURA TYPE R BROCHUER:
"Deeply bolstered, high-traction racing-design front seats with suede-like side trim"
"Carbon fiber-look instrument panel"
etc....

thats funny.........when it somes down to it........he's probably almost losing money with the wear and miles he puts on the car while delivering pizza.........and only making like minimum wage........
youd be suprised, they actually make mad cash .
my grandparents own a pizza shop, i did deliveries when i was in a bind for quick cash . it was good money in tips and **** , my one friend worked for pizzatime a while ago and made mad cash to build his race car on top of having another newtruck to tow it and lived on his own .

So, umm, does anyone have any ideas other than me not becoming a pizza delivery guy? I know the suede cleaner is an option, but I'm weary of using that due to the chemicals and faster wear ..
umm...ok, it is real suede and i've used suede cleaner. looks perfect. but what do I know?
a suggestion would be to steam clean it and then if necessary redye.
