I have custom spring rates and they are fine (440 front/380 reat). I just wanted something a little stiffer than the OTS springs as my car is heavy (97 Prelude). If you had no past experience with aftermarket springs like me then you will basically have to take a chance with your choise if you decide to get custom rates.

The best thing to do would find a friend or someone you know with the same car and suspension you're looking for and decide that way. That or search the site for other cars and find out what people thought of their setups and what they use their car for.

Apparently the OTS rates are good for street but if you want to autox or track your car then I would suggest something stiffer.

If someone wants to elaborate or correct me, please come in as I am no suspension expert but this is how I decided my rates (researching).

Good luck!

Custom rates are just that... there custom rates. Most people who auto-x or track have them... they are the exact same quality as the OTS springs just stiffer or softer.

It's not a question you can just ask "how were they"... Its all personal opinion. If someone chose the wrong rate than they might be unhappy.
If you are worried about the quality of the spring they are great.

Search around for prople who track the same model car as you and ask them what they think of the rates they have chosen and for what reason they chose the ones they did. It should give you a good idea of what to order.

I have 550F 450R springs on my 1991 Hatch with Koni Race shocks. I however will be going up to 700F and moving the 550's to the rear.

I ordered 550f and 450r with my Koni Yellow's. I have yet to install them but as far as quality they look great.

You should check the FS/WTB thread in the road race/auto-x section, people often sell used springs there for a great price.

Well I know most of you guys get the custom spring rate for auto cross/track, but Im trying to just get some softer springs for dd. I have d2 racing coilovers right now and I like the feel of them in the front but the rears are a little too stiff cause theres no weight back there. So Im thinking of picking up some custom ones for my rear.

You should be satisfied with new springs for you coilovers from ground control (eibach) Just make sure you order the correct size for your application. You can find some spings in the RR/auto-x forum f/s thread most people are looking to go stiffer or are swapping out high spring rates for other high spring rates so a soft pair should be easy to come across.

Yeah Ill just buy them brand new. I was thinking of getting 300 for the rear. They should be fine for daily right?? Cause the spring rates I have in the rear making my back hurt/

300 shouldn't kill your back but if I'm remembering the OTS rates correctly why pay extra for the 20lb difference if it's just a street car? I think OTS rates are 280(?) rear.

As posted I'd check the RR/AX section for deals on springs.

i ordered some custom rates from them. i paired some koni yellows with 450 fronts and 600 rears. loved it. much better turn in. to some people, this is a pretty stiff set up, but stiff i think is all personal preference. it felt great for me and i didn't mind the sacrifice of ride quality for better handling.
