Which fuse is my Alternator Fuse?
Title says it all... I looked in my owners manual and it didnt list an Alternator Fuse. I dont even know if there actually is an Alternator Fuse.... Im just going off of what somebody posted to another question. Thanks in advance for any help!
in the engine compartment there should be a box that list all the fuses and what they are for, same with the box under the dash. I dont know if there is an alt fuse, i would think so though.
Yeah, I would think there would be one too. I know its deffinitly not in the fuse box under the dash. I was in that fuse box for 20 minutes last night lookin for any blown fuses.
Well.... My 96 LS died as I was backing out of my driveway. It had died a couple of other times recently but I was able to start it again. This time it wouldnt crank. I hooked up my wifes Civic to mine to jump it off..... I let it charge for almost 20 minutes and it still wouldnt crank. I called an alternator shop and they said I could barrow a jump pack to get it up there. They said even if it was the alternator, the jump pack would allow it to start. Oh, my lights had also been dimming every now and then too. Oh, I also put my wifes battery in my car and it still wouldnt start.

would an alternator have a fuse? isn't it belt driven? not electrically operated? isn't there a fuse panel with relays in the engine bay near the strut tower, i think there is a fuse for ignition, or something along those lines. a manual would have the location of that i would think.
When I was adjusting by alt, the bar slipped and sparked off one of the wires. It blew the main battery fuse located right next to the battery.
BTW, it wont just blow the fuse. The only way would be if there was a short, and alt do not normally make a short when they die

Make sure that it's not the starter before you go any further

Would the starter cause the car to die? The car died while driving twice and I was able to start it again. And why would the starter drain my battery completly?

So the car shut off and had the power to restart itself?
That is not an alt man.

Check your battery fuse first, then make sure your starter is working before you go any further.

Black fuse box, right next to the battery. I think it's the closest one to the front of the car.
