smog
The smog tech has no reason to check what ecu you have in your car. Actually it is not legal for a smog tech to verify if you have the correct ecu. Only a referee can do this. If you are just going to a regular smog inspection facility then THEY WILL NOT CHECK THE ECU. If you have a USDM 97 ecu then you should have a check engine light and all kinds of codes set because the 94 GSR will be missing a bunch of the OBD2 sensors. If you have a JDM 97 ecu then you should be fine because it sets the same codes as and OBD1 ecu and your check engine light should not be on.
