Default smog

Will i pass smog with a 97 ecu in my 94 gsr? or do i have to get the exact year? o_O

The smog tech has no reason to check what ecu you have in your car. Actually it is not legal for a smog tech to verify if you have the correct ecu. Only a referee can do this. If you are just going to a regular smog inspection facility then THEY WILL NOT CHECK THE ECU. If you have a USDM 97 ecu then you should have a check engine light and all kinds of codes set because the 94 GSR will be missing a bunch of the OBD2 sensors. If you have a JDM 97 ecu then you should be fine because it sets the same codes as and OBD1 ecu and your check engine light should not be on.

JDM OBD2 ecu in USDM OBD1 car = for smog

USDM OBD2 ecu in USDM OBD1 car = for smog
