pro and cons about 9lb and 13lb flywheels

Pro = Quick response, a quicker "blip" during heel-toe shifting.

Con: there is such thing as too light. Quickly falling revs are not always a good thing between shifts. Carried momentum from a heavier flywheel can actually be a good thing ... this is why the ITR didn't come with a 9lbs. flywheel.

What do I have? I have the Exedy 9lbs. Chrome-moly unit. It's borderline on the light side for my taste. I like a fast throttle blip on the downshift, and have learned to live with the flaws.


But yeah, as 1Grey Teg said, this has been covered a million times. Do some searching.

11lb is just right for my tastes.

Fast deceleration? You should drive a Ferrari or Maserati. Feels like you are applying the brakes.

And no cons I can think of.
I have had the comptech 6.75lbs AL FW in my car for 50,000 miles and not one single problem. I do drive hard, Some might say too much
