Default D16y7 Swap into 90 hatch

I'm going to help a guy wire up his D16y7 that he already swapped into a 90 hatch. I have a few questions though...

I have read that the pm6 ecu will run the D16y7 just fine with the right intake manifold which I think is the stock D16y7, but I have a spare A6 mani if we need to swap. I also saw that the P28 ecu would work. I wasn't sure if it would since it's for Vtec motors, will it run a non vtec motor ok? I would think it will throw a code for not seening the vtec pressure switch and the mapping would be wrong. Can anyone suggest a different ecu to use? I'd like to keep the car obd0 since that's what it is and I have the parts to do so, but would it be easier to make it obd1? If so which ecu should I use?

Has anyone done this swap? If so please help me out and tell me what you did.

I would think the PM6 ecu would work fine especially since the car is already obd0. So I'm thinking the pm6 (of course convert the car to mpfi since its a DX), the d16y7 motor, the a6 intake manifold (i'm not sure if the pm6 would run the IAC on the y7 mani), and an obd0 a6 distributor.

Can anyone verify that this would work and is the best/easiest route to take.
Thanks for the help.

Did you search the site? This has been covered a lot.

Of course I did. I didn't find much on this particular swap and so I was asking if anyone had done this and could confirm what I was thinking of doing.

If you know of a particular thread on or off this site then post it up, but don't just direct me to the FAQ, I was there and looked.

Man Im tired of "did you search?" responces, does it take more bandwidth to post and say "did you search?" or to just not answer question that you feel has been covered?

The d16y7 will run off d16a6 equipment like it came from the factory that way. The engines are SO similar. Use an obd0 crx si or civic si distributor and matching intake manifold and ecu. Of course if the car is dpfi then you'll need to convert to mpfi (search for that, it has been covered). Later down the road if you guys decide to boost and need tuning ability then it'll run good on a PM6 ecu (non-vtec d-series obd1). A p28 would also work but no need to shell out bucks for a vtec ecu if you're not gonna have vtec, somebody probly reccomended it because they can be used for non-vtec apps when modified. The y7 doesn't have a thermo-switch for the radiator fan on the back of the block like the a6, so take it off your a6, take the bolt out of the y7 and screw it into your new y7 ya follow? friggen cake swap, this thing better be running by tomorrow afternoon

Hell ya! Now that's the stuff I'm looking for!
Cheers to you AK_CRX, thanks for the help and non of the bullshit. I had no idea about the thermo switch on the A6 and it not being on the Y7, so that will save me some headache for sure! I've gotta gather up some parts and the ecu and the thing will be purrring like it came from honda. Thanks again!
