Default New to HT. First B-series Build

Wassup everyone, my name is Jason. I reside in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands. 19yrs of age.

First build was my Honda Integra w/ a non-vtec Sohc Zc with YCP Vitaras. Was planning on turboing it, but just had a sudden change of heart and sold the car in search now for better project.

Here is what I am currently getting into:

I got a B18B block from a friend the other day and it was in dire need of a thorough cleaning, so it is now completely pulled apart and being cleaned.

Here is the "Dreams" of what I would like.

I want to build a reliable All Motor LS/Vtec motor for circuit racing and occasional drag races. Its gonna be driven a few times a week...not everyday.
I am currently focusing on the bottom end right now.
I was thinking about compression to be close to 12:1.

What Rods and Pistons should I use?

P30 pistons on stock rods with ARP rod bolts have worked for me quite well over the past two years.

It'll sit you in the mid-11's:1 compression.

What Hp numbers you think or know you have?
I am looking at least 200hp. Will stock bore be sufficient?

Dude this is my first b-series build. I need some good advice and I knew this is the place to get it. I did some pretty good research already but this thread is tailored to what I plan for the future.

Don't worry so much about peak horsepower numbers, or even a pinpoint goal with them.

The stock-bore LSVTEC will get you close-to or above 200whp with the right cam/bolt-on combo, depending on how your dyno reads.

Shoot for trap speeds.

btw. This is a tech forum, not a "i want XXX.XX amount of power"

The reason we cant tell you what to get in order to reach a certain number is because all dyno's read differently. If you baseline at say 140whp, its gonna take quite a bit of money to reach 200whp. Then if you made 170whp, it wouldnt take near the amount of money to reach your goal.

However, those two 200whp motors will be completely different and will not be equal in track speed.

you see where we are going with this? 200 is just some fabricated number with no meaning behind it.

That link will come in very handy for the build up since I am doing it myself. Thanks.

Aiming for trap speeds sounds more logical.

Questions on the build up now:

Where's a good place in Florida to get my rods Shot peened? Seems like everyone just sticks with the stock rods.

I would like to go with some forged pistons. When doing so, is there any modification that needs to be done to the LS rods?

i agree with Derek 100% my goal was to trap 105+. dyno's are only tuning tools, trap speeds show the real power.

Yea I totally agree with him, because it doesn't make any sense to have a ton load of power and can't get it to the ground properly to trap at the speeds you should.

2fastGSR... you mentioned to just get the Eagle rods and call it that. I was thinking the same thing but wasn't really sure how they perform in a n/a motor...kind of a dumb thought I know.

Pistons... I was thinking of going with some CP 81mm 11.5:1cr pistons.

What head would be better btw? B16a or GSR?

Thanks for the basic setup of what you have.

I am just wating on some ppl to bring me cash for some parts I am selling so I can start building the bottom end.

Is there a real need for the Block girdle for my n/a setup?
Which company makes a good girdle?

Yesterday I got some freebies from a cousin of mines.

He gave me a girdle, main caps, oil pickup and the plate from either a CTR or a GSR motor.

Gonna mock it up to see if everything fits perfectly. What kinda mods do I need to do to the main caps?
