quick question: i have a 02 rsx base model and my car is throwing a "cel" and i was wondering if there is a way to jump the car to see what is wrong with it(like the old integras) and with that i am also looking for the code and what the are?
-i have done it on my 95 integra and i was wondering if it was the same?
-if anyone has a site that would say that would be great. i will keep looking for more info but if someone knows that would be better and quicker.
-thanks for your help in advance.

Go to an auto parts store and have them plug in the car and give you the codes. All auto parts stores that I have dealt with will not clear the code however. For that you will need to purchase and OBD2 code reader so that you can erase the codes yourself. $50-$100 for a basic one.

#90-evap
"The purpose of all Evaporative (EVAP) Emissions Systems is to prevent the release of VOC. The main concern is Hydrocarbons (HC’s) or unburned gasoline vapors. Hydrocarbons are released from gasoline in the form of a vapor, and if the fuel system is not air tight, these vapors can then escape into the atmosphere. The problem with unburned hydrocarbons is that they aid in the production of photochemical smog."
-this is what i found about the evap. is important to get this fixed right away? what i'm asking with this is will it damage the car/engine if it is not fixed right away?
-has anyone else had this problem before? from the site i was looking at it happens on the 2002 rsx the most.(guess im lucky to have a 2002

so you're saying you had two codes thrown?
#90 evap usually means in lamers terms is check your gas cap and make sure it's snug. That's the most extent of that one. I've had it and reset the code. it's nothing detrimental.
vtec system malfunction: are you low on oil? does vtec engage?
you might want to get the 2nd code checked out.

yes the gas cap was not clocked three times but i finished clocking(turning) it.
- yes it is throwing two codes
- i think i have enough oil(i'll check to make sure but i believe it has enough).
i think the vtec is engaging but not for sure.(did not want to push it if there was something wrong but i will take it out for a test drive to see if it engages)
- i'll check that one out
-thanks for your help again

Won't be something dramatic like the A2. the A3 doesn't use the aggresive vtec as the A2. It may be a faint little "kick" or a smooth transition. You have to listen to it very closely.
Any one can show a pic of the DLC? I checked under the steering column and there is one plug with a lot of pins on it. And it's black. I know this is where the OBD2 scanner plugs in.
Is there a separate plug to jump to get the code? Just like EG, EK and DC2.
Thanks!

I'm guessing it may be black in a base rsx but that's what it looks like and that's where the OBDII code reader goes into.
Click the link it tells you how to read the code and jump it.

Is what you're jumping to get the code
