Default what kind of head

i am just wondering how to identify the head i have pulled from a junkyard car to do a rebuild on. where are the markings? its probably a z6 since its from a 92

is it a vtec head if so then its prolly a d16z6

If it's from a 92-95 body style, the way you can tell if it's a VTEC head or not is by looking at the spark plug holes. If they are towards the front of the motor, it's a VTEC head, if it's to the rear it's a Non-VTEC head. You'd also be able to tell by looking at the camshaft (it'll have the third lobe for VTEC). As for a stamp, on the front of the EX/Si head I believe there's a stamp somewhere on it that says P08 (P2J for a 96-00 SOHC VTEC head).
