low budget 10.2" brake upgrade?
I seen this the other day and wondered if anyone has opt to do this?
you'll be glad to hear that it isn't necessary to hunt down those scarce EX knuckles to upgrade to 10.2" brakes. This bolts onto the non-EX 88-91 Civic/CRX knuckles!
Parts list:
-'91 Civic EX Brake rotors...same as 92-95 Civic Sedan rotors.
- Accord Wagon Brake Calipers (will be stamped 17CL15VN)These are the exact same calipers as the ITR, Legend, Prelude VTEC etc. Great stopping power!
- Accord Wagon, Prelude VTEC (etc) Brake Caliper mount stamped 25T (a 23T bracket exists, but I can't promise you it will work). This is what came stock on the Accord Wagon.
- 1/8" wheel spacer OR grind ~1/8th" (2.5-3mm) off of the caliper mounting bracket. If you are familiar with the 11" brake upgrade, this is the same modification necessary.
Now, the installation...
First, you need to place the wheel spacer (or washers if you're ghetto) between the hub and your new 10.2" brake rotor.
OR shave off the ~1/8" necessary from the caliper bracket
Next, Install your rotor, mount the caliper, load the pads....(you know how to do all this) and enjoy your upgraded brakes!!!
I tested these with my two pair of 15" wheels and they fit just fine. If any of you have 14" wheels, you may want to see if they'll clear. They may not.
So you end up with the same rotor surface area as the Integra/EX upgrade, but you're upgrading to ITR quality calipers, larger pads etc.
I was thinking about it but wanted some feedback first!

No not at all, didn't try it myself.Just wanted to get feedback on the issue.I'm sure you can run the 11" just with a bigger rim size. And the 1/8" ground off the cal. brackets

I have all the necessary parts, calipers and caliper mount brackets for the Sedan LX. I got the setup right off a 94 Accord Wagon. Now my question is at this moment in time I cannot afford getting the milling done to the brackets. All the places around my area want to charge from 65 an hour to 95. I think this is a little over priced, but what do I know about machine work. So I was thinking doing the 1/8 shims. These need to be set behind the rotor correct? Also isn’t possible to use the 11†rotors as long as I get the re drilled for the 4x100 offset?

Just one minor detail. The Accord has a different lug pattern.

If I may contribute, it looks like this:

The 23T brackets WILL work, thats them pictured. The brackets should be milled 3.2mm as he stated.

This is how the brackets should be grinded, with a milling machine. I realize everyone does not have access to one, but the good news is that you can ship me your brackets and I can mill them for you! This procedure ensures a perpendicular cut and is within .001" parallel to avoid your brakes making noise and uneven pad wear. This keeps your rotors hubcentric since theres no spacer.

some pics whould be amazing also lol and i know where i can get tones of 90 91 civic EX knuckles front and back lol and yess there all 1.6 4dr lol
91 EX never had rear disc. You can get rear disc of 90-91 CRX, 90+ Integra, or any Civics to 2000 that came with rear disc.
