Default What would you pay for a salvage?

The car is an 03 RSX Type-S with 28,000 miles. The owner claims that the only things replaced were the hood, front bumper, headlights, fenders, and radiator. Says the AC compressor needs to be replaced, does this indicate damage from the accident? Says has gone through NY inspection and title in hand.

What sounds like a fair price for this car? It's a private seller, but I have seen dealers selling 03's with under 60k miles for $11-$16k.

Is there a rule of thumb as to the cost deducted percentage-wise for a salvage or rebuilt titled vehicle? Thanks!!

salavage vehicles go for dirt man . they have no resale value just use value. a quarter of what the cars decent condition value would be a start and go down from there.

i'd pay maybe like 3-5 grand for a salvaged car (depending what's wrong with it). Salvaged titled cars don't have value after they are declared salvaged so they are worthless like hawaiin said.

For that one, under $8000. I almost bought a 05 salvaged WRX for $5500. Nothing was fixed though.

Dont go for it man.... You lose lots of value on a salvaged car.. and if u wanna sell it in the future.. Im pretty sure you wont get what you paid for it... Good luck Bro!!! Shop for a car wisely and take your time!!! I learned the hard way...

If it is a good repair job and it is a good car that you will enjoy using and you are okay with the fact that you will not be able to re-sell it for much, pay 7-8K for it. Drive the hell out of it and make sure it is well used when you get rid of it.

Do yourself a favor and dont get it at all. You can find a much nice, and clean title for better than that. First if you need a loan you wont get it with a dirty title. Second you wont get insurance, and if you do its horrid. Just dont do it!

Got my 06 RSX Type S salvaged but the only thing wrong was that it was stolen. They replaced the steering wheel, wheels, seats, and the sub. Yes I checked the vin on all the panels and the eng-trans. Had 5000 miles, paid 17900. I wouldn't buy the car because it is salvaged. Don't get me wrong, i like a good deal but the cars been crashed so I wouldn't touch it. I actually owned a 99 civic hatch that was salvaged (crashed) but from a dealership for a good price. VERY, VERY, VERY good car but I guess if you completely check everything on the car you'll be ok. The reason I wouldn't buy the RSX is he will probably want a good amount of money since RSX's are still slightly expensive (I only paid 6000 for my hatch in 2002).

Oh yeah and don't worry about the insurance. I got insurance no problem with either cars. If you try to get a loan that might take some searching for a bank but USAA and Citifinancial both approved me for a car loan no problem. Its not hard to finance a salvaged vehicle.
