It's not worth it. The cost negates the benefit. Besides, it will destroy plastic parts in the fuel system.

Toluene works better but does cost around 10 a gallon. It boost your octane around 2 points on 93 octane and you shouldnt mix more than 30%. I dont think it would hurt anything in your fuel system as long as you dont use to much and mix it before you put it in.

Special plastics, rubber dies fast with acetone. They make plastics that withstand gasoline, whilst when you take a kitchen tupperware, chances are it will melt.
Also its an urban legend. They claim it has something to do with surface tension, but think about it, when you inject it directly with pressure into the manifold, does surface tension play any role. Even if it may sound legit, I put this acetone right there with the turbonator, magnets on fuel lines and other idiotic ideas.
Also I think some people say, you only put a teaspoon of it.. do you have any idea how little the amount of one teaspoon in 12gallons is? Very little and bears no effect.

the ammount of acetone that goes in gas tank is about < or = 3 ounces per 10 gallons. i have read up and done some research on it that at this mixture it wont destroy the rubber peices at a fast rate, rather shorten the life of it by only a little...

another thing i have gathered is that the acetone breaks the surface tension of the gas, thus making it easier to ignite... if this is the case, on turbo and high compression motors i wouldn't suggest it, because of detonation.
