ys1 and usdm s1 cable tranny casings interchangable?

ys1 and usdm s1 cable tranny housings interchangable?
I'm wondering because my friend has a ys1 but broke off a chunk of the housing where the 2 bolts go. I have a tranny lined up but it's a s1(guessing it's a usdm/LS). Could he just take the same side housing and switch it out?
