Default Re-drill '96 DC2R wheels to fit an EF?

I've found some cheap '96 DC2R wheels (the white ones that look like GABs).

I'm thinking of buying them & then getting four *new* holes drilled into them so they'll fit a ED/EF (red car)

/ ?

Comments?

you will have to have the old holes welded up or at least one of them. there is no way to orientate the 2 bolt patterns without one interfering with the other.

BILLETGRIP, the dc2r wheels are 4lug as well, so I was thinking of get a new set of 4 drilled in between the existing 4 holes...( at 45 degrees?)

i dont know what the back of the wheel looks like. there may not be enough material there.

I would not be redrilling wheels but thats my opinion. I autocross alot and would be worried about them breaking.

unless your set on these wheels wouldn't it be cheaper to get some 4 x100 wheels by the time you modify these to fit plus they wouldn't be that safe imo, but if these are what you want to the 114 conversion

how cheap is cheap? the replicas are like $400 iirc.

im sure 96 ITR wheels + a 4x114 conversion is a lot more money than that. i'm willing to bet its over double the price of the replicas.

If that is true, then the OP thinks 800 dollars is cheap for wheels. If so OP want to buy me lunch!
I hope not I have seen them go for around 600 or so on HMP.

you're missing the point.

why do a 4x114 brake conversion (that costs money) when you want to use 96 ITR wheels (which also costs money)?

he can buy replicas on ebay. even if he gets his 96 ITR wheels for FREE, he still has to pay to do the brake conversion. im saying, the replicas are more than likely cheaper than going through all of that trouble.

i'd stick with 4x100. there are also more choices of wheels available to him later on.

id say if you want to keep those wheels and there is actually enough material there to redrill the wheels then do it. if there isnt enough material in the wheels then redrill the hubs.

i honestly dont think there would be a safety issue with either solution as long as there is enough material in the wheel.

as far as price goes if you have a friend thats a machinist i would think he would do it for free. if not i have done both solutions in under an hour programming, setup and all. most machine shops only charge about $60/hr (around here they do anyway) so it shouldnt really be that expensive.

but the simplest solution would be what STREETWERKZ said and just get replicas off ebay.

...buying replicas off ebay isn't a solution either as even if I buy them for $5US, it will still cost me $400US to ship them home...

ie: I've seen some 15" rota sets being sold on ebay for around $380US, which is good for you guys in the US, but when I ask quote shipping it's another $400 on top.

So the real question is, in your opinions, are 15" rota worth $800-900US?

I didn't think so...

The only other way is to keep waiting for some 4x100PCD GABs which what you guys are really saying if re-drilling is not advised.

Regardless.... this discussion is appreciated!

Replicas are fugly as hell, but that's just my opinion .

Either do the 4x114.3 conversion or get hub-centric adapters. Preferably leaning more towards the former than the latter.
