sounds like a contact off the relay is stuck open. I recommend finding the relay and cleaning all the contacts..

MM&Y of car? A helms manual will give you the relay # you want to check. Usually the contacts which change state from that relay are located on the relay itself, but sometimes are located differently.
You need to find the wiring diagram of your car and trace it out. A relay for lights sounds like it may be bigger, check the relay names under your hood in the panel.
