Default Crank angle sensor location

Can someone point out the crank angle sensor on an H22 in a technical drawing. Searched everywhere for it. No clue what it would even look like.

In a 92-95 it will be in the distributor

96+ it is at the oil pump, the parts diagram is labeled oil pump/oil strainer or something like that...

So does that mean the 2 aren't compatible with each other.

You can't use a 92-95 sensor on a 96+ engine without changing the distributor and wiring it to work.

You can't use a 96+ sensor on a 92-95 engine without changing the oil pump to a 96+ one and wiring that to work.

like matt said, if you have a 92-96 the crank angle sensor will be in the distributor. if you have a 97-01 it will be on the oil pump housing.

Yeah, I have no idea where the oil pump is. A little help? Is it in the oil pan?

It is behind the crank pulley, behind the lower timing cover.

That front end "snout" of the crankshaft comes right through the oil pump. To get at those sensors you'll need to take the crank pulley and lower timing cover off.

Take off that big gear on the bottom. That sensor you see on the left, along with the one on the right side, are all 1 unit.

Those are the sensors you're looking for.

Remove the belt and pull it straight out. Don't lose the key though.
