Del Sol 1.5 Time slips for 1/4?
Hi, I'm new to Honda-tech...I've had my Del sol for a little over 5 years and have modified it a lot since I bought her. She's a 94 Del Sol S...I bought the "S" cause I was planning on swapping in a B18c5 (if I could find one) and then boost it...I bought her with 76,*** and then when gas prices started going up I just decided to keep her the way she was but just for fun I put a few little things on her. So far I have a K&N cold air intake, an SI manifold (gasket match ported to the mani as well as the head) 8.5 lbs flywheel and a custom 2" duel flowmaster exhaust (2" from cat to the split into a "Y" with a 31" resonator in between and 2" to the mufflers so it's real mellow). I have countless mods to the exterior and interior including a custom molded fiberglass speaker box with 2 10"s, S2k seats, etc, etc. Well I took her to the track just for ***** & giggles and I ran a 10.46@66.36 w/2.35-60'. Not to bad for a car that gets 45-46 mpg, and had 3/4 tank of gas, lol. Does anyone know what I should be able to run in the 1/4? The closest 1/4 mile tack is 178 miles away and needless to say I won't be going anytime soon, lol. I'd like to think I would run a high 15 but couldn't tell ya. I thought I'd run a high 10 but ended up running a lower mid 10. Here's some pics to entertain ya for reading all this and helping me figure this out, lol. I like my cars clean, like they could have (or should have) come from factory. All the work was done by me and my good friend
Let me know what you all think of her!

How she started out...

and how she sits right now

The box I designed built and painted...I used to have it covered in black vinle

When it was coved

after I painted it...Did anyone notice the emblem molded in the box from the first pics?

Welcome to Honda-Tech.
If you're happy with your car, that's fine. But to answer your question, look it up.

I'm sure your right...BUT the fact that it took 86 pieces of wood to construct the frame and with the 65+ hours I have in it and the biggest reason is cause, I built it custom to my set up, so the sunk-in amp would all be different, as well as the speakers...That was about the only amp they made (about 3 years ago) that would actually fit and look right in between the speakers. Also, the alpine type "S" is a double magnet which led me to having to have the speakers sitting in ONLY that spot and even then, the speakers have less then a 1/4 inch of clearance. Trust me, I've thought about it...I saw one of the ugliest boxes (just a big square sitting on top of the cubby holes) sell on eBay for $230 plus shipping...Just the box mind you. I was like "damn, if they'd pay that much for thing, I wonder what I could sell mine for, lol". For insurance purposes, I took it to a shop and they said to recreate my box, it would take 7 days @ 350 a day +$250-300 to paint it...I don't know to many ppl that would pay anywhere near that for it...I damn sure wouldn't, hence the reason I built it my self. I know I could do it in less time now that I pretty much know what to do (that was my first fiberglass box too) but I also had to cut my factor "cubby hole" front off to make the shape conform. But I'll tell you what, if someone is really interested in it then I'll consider making them for others...That's what makes my car so special and unique is that over the years, I've only seen 2 that were similar. I'll have to try and find the construction pics but since then I bought a new comp and will have to look on my other one (piece of crap). I posted some other pics under the rest up top.

Haha, That's the only emblem I have on the car, everything else has been shaved or removed...I wanted it to be authentic so I bought an original emblem from Japan. I love it

I actually like the red emblems. Dont change em. The red interior is too much for me though. Good lookin' car man.
Thanks and to be honest, I was thinking of changing it all back to black when I sell it. I think I still have the black carpet and since I did all the upholstery and still have a lot of the black left I think it might sellofaster. I've had mixed reviews on the red carpet...Like it says in my sig. It's my ode to an S2000, if Honda will put red interior in that car, why couldn't I? lol.

The word is "Ode."

I like how the carpet kind of gives it a CTR feel to it.
Not too shabby man, that custom enclosure is pretty sweet, great work!
Oh, and for the 1/4 mile question, there are WAY to many variables that effect ones 1/4 mile time (weather, tire pressure, tire compound, weight of the car, how many miles are on the motor, how well the motor is running and has been maintained, where in your powerband you are shifting at, temperature, humidity, etc.) To give a rough estimate, Id say somewhere in the 16 sec. range, possibly mid-lower 16's at best. Thats just my pinion on it.
Be careful on posting questions like this though, because its against H-T's rules to "bench race" and one of the mods might see this and lock it, as well as dock you some points.
Welcome to the site though and enjoy your stay, and again, nice job on the car!
