Default Exhaust manafold cherry RED

Can anyone tell me why some times my stock manifold is turning bright red after driving at normal conditions, I have just installed a 8lb flywheel and a stage 2 clutch, and a high flow cat. since this install I have noticed this prob. Please give me some help here.

Different things can cause high exhaust temps...not enough fuel, bad timing, clogged EGR, etc. What kind of 'high flow cat' are you using?

did your "spoon" cat have the honeycomb type mesh thru it?

or maybe theres a potato stuck inside your muffler tip

Not so much. I have been wondering if it was just a badge that was tig welded onto the cat? Its just wide open.

Wait a minute, you're saying you put a more open cat and all of sudden your header is hotter than before?

Something funky is up, it seems to me like you have some kind of blockage in the exhaust system.

like im sayin I have no idea? the exhaust sounds the same and seems to be dumpin the same out the rear but the manifold is gettin red at diffrent times not all the time. some times when im just crusin and then sometimes not? Its nuts. Im wonderin if its hurting anything. the O2 sensors are not working sence I put it on so could that have an affect?

I doubt that highly. I know plenty of people who have been w/o o2 sensors for some time and have been fine.

isn't hot exhaust temps caused by the car running too lean or the timing is off right?

Yes but the difference isn't this huge, I really think he has an exhaust "clog" he doesn't know about.

I agree with everyone else. If your timing isn't off, then there is probably something blocking your exhaust.

Does the cat/test pipe get red hot as well, or just the manifold?

hmm..never seen the stock header without the heatshield on. Maybe they all turn red lol

Mine almost looked red all the time though anyway. Maybe theres an obstruction in the flex pipe in the 2-1 piece too. But I'm agreeing its an obstruction somewhere in the exhaust system.

If he had such a blockage that the headers was heating up he would more than likely loose tons of power aswell. I experienced this with my h23. Felt like someone was pushing me rather that actually having a motor. Does it lag any?

It's probably a hollow pipe, not a cat.
