Default Question on AP2/AP1

My cousin has a 2000 S2k. His engine blew out for some unknown reasons. Would it be cheaper to get an Ap2 engine or to get it rebuilt? It was odd though it blew out when he was going to trade it in for a CR. LOL

sorry to hear horrible luck it depends on how bad the motor is and whether you are going to rebiuld it yourself or not. it would prob be cheaper to buy another f20 for it instead of f22.

Yea the engine started smoking and it caught fire when I raised the hood. And I just happened to have a small fire extinguisher from a BBQ. Sucks so bad it did that right in front of the Honda dealer too. Oh and the price for the rebiuld is 3500$

well first find out what the problem was so it doesnt happen again.......

second, with fire damage wire harnesses melt and may cause electrical problems that are a bitch to trouble shoot in the future....

third, just get another ap1 longblock, should be a bunch cheaper than 3500, esp without a tranny.

fourth, depending on what happened to the motor, a lot of the stock parts may still be salvagable, and you can sell them separately to get some $$ back from the swap.

It's actually a good thing that his engine blew/caught on fire or whatever. Now he doesn't have to drive around in an ugly CR. A blessing in disguise.

LoL The AP2 is better in having torque at low RPM. But he likes the 9000 RPm and i am the other way around. Well The AP2 came in and he got a free roof too.
