CAR WONT START

Default CAR WONT START

my car wont start its an 1988 honda civic lx and i cant start it when i start it it cranks slow and all lights go real dim like low power i try to hook it up to jump start it but when i do that it turns faster but it starts for a sec but wont go above 500 rpms and its real slow like omg slow sort of lack of power i checked all grounds i think and all realys are fine whats does anyone else have this problem

try taking off your distributer cap and tightening up the rotor...might work...idk

check all the basics:

spark plugs
condition of wires
condition of dist. cap
condition of rotor
condition of gas
condition of battery
condition of alt

condition of your search button (your fluid may be low)

i check the dis. cap before and the rotor screw was off i put it back on it ran good then i went like 2 mins. up the road it cut off i thought it could of came loose again i checked it i was still tight and wouldnt start since then i got new spark wires and dis.cap and new spark plugs but nothing i tried to jump it and it cut on for about a minute then cut off it made a sound like a weak power to it like a thump sound like it was struggleing to stay alive

Whats the battery voltage??
Dim lights sounds like a voltage problem to me.
Check all your fuses, inside and underhood box.

try taking out your ciggarette lighter. my car will shut off if the lighter is pressed in... just a thought

cig. lighter is out always has been and the battery light is always on like its supposed to be unless its started

Take it to Autozone and have them test your alternator and battery. That's if you can get it started again. Also, make sure all your battery grounds are tight and not corroded.

i think its the alternator cause the batterys only 3 weeks old

He's saying that's more than likely your problem. If the battery was replaced 3 weeks ago, that narrows down the list of things to check.

check the 10mm ground on ur alternator! same **** happened to me
