Default OBD1 D15B

Question..
Is the 92-95 D15B, 130hp version the only one with the black valve cover?
I've go one, not sure what its from but it has the black valve cover, single vtec
solenoid and there is a stamp p08 on the ex. side of the head.

Yes...Thats an OBD1 Motor. It requires a P08 ECU to run properly.

Just because the motor has a black valve cover doesn't mean anything, and yes po8=obd1 you can run it on usdm p28 ecu. Running a jdm p08 ecu will make the car never pass smog, your going to have to run a single wire o2 and evap purge solenoid isn't going to exist in the jdm ecu. Run a p28 ecu and if you want to make everything perfect chip your p28 to p08 maps.
