So I'm thinking about either selling or parting out my Prelude. I hate the mere thought of it, but I simply can't afford it right now. I've just completed my turbo build, however, I'm having issues on getting it up and running with the 880cc injectors and the new ecu...I'm sure someone with the time and money can figure this out in no time.
With work and school, I just haven't had any time at all to finish up on this project. It's literally has just been garaged just sitting. I'm upset b/c this setup should yield major power...but I don't have the time or money anymore for it.
Should I part-out? Sell car as whole(w/ turbo)? Sell turbo parts separately (then sell the car N/A)? I have EVERY single reciept for anything done or bought for this car.
THIS IS NOT A 'FOR SALE' THREAD. IF YOU HAVE AN INTEREST IN THE CAR/PART(S), DO NOT POST IN HERE. PLEASE PM ME.
I simply would like some insight on which direction should I go with this based on the info given. Thanks

ive been through what you are going through right now. honestly what i think you should do is get a cheap beater and use that until you can get the funds/time to finish the job. you have done a ton to that car and anyone in here will tell you with all that work and time into the car it starts to be less than a car and more of a member of your family. trust me if you sell it later on when you do get the funds/time you will regret it.
Man, with all that time in money that you have in that car I would never sell it...just wait a little while intil your motivation comes back or your financial situation gets a little better. You're only going to loose money now....

I hear you on that. That's why I'm so torn between letting it go and keeping it. It's just a headache for me right now. I plan on getting a S2K when I graduate from school in the spring. So I'm not sure if having this project as well as the possibility of a S2K will work for me.
More advice is welcomed.

I think my my motivation is gone. I don't know if will come back. I've been interested in a S2k for the longest time now. I think I'm somewhat prepared to take the hit on losing some money, that's a given. I just want something I can chill & cruise in right now.
I look at the Lude and all I see is a beast in the making, I'm happy about it, but it's just not what I want anymore. Maybe I'm getting old, maybe it's the wack and shady scene now...I don't know?

Make the smart decision, not the one you necessarily want to make.
Either get up the ***** and finish it, then sell it as a whole, or part the aftermarket stuff out and toss a stock engine in it, either way you should be able to scavenge some good money out of it.
Think more about the s2000 thing first. Insurance is beastly. Payments suck. Cool car though, I went thru a phase of wanting one and came out still with prelude keys.
Good luck.

True. Insurance is beastly...esp where I live. I might get a break b/c I'm a little older, plus those points from my early driving yrs are shedding off.
Payments suck big time...I really don't want to touch the s2k unless I lay down a major down payment to soften up the mothly payments.
Maybe I'm just tired of being factored in with the typical demographics of most Integra, Civic, & Prelude drivers. The scene is changing big time. I'm liking it at all! Too many shady thieves...You can't sit back and enjoy your hard work anymore. Instead you have sleep with one eye closed at night. I'm tired of that.
Mgags: In the end what was the determining factor for you not getting a S2k? I know you still want a s2k right now as we speak

man this i a beautiful lude. i think you will in the long run regret selling it if you do. even if you do get a s2k i think you will look back some day and miss your lude.
I say keep it!! One of the other members on here has a boosted lude making over 500 at the wheels, and also has a s2k, which is basically stock. He loves the s2k, and drives it daily much more, but gets the wild happy grin whenever he goes out in the prelude, its such a joy when its all done and running right. He debated selling the lude but didnt, and now just a few months and a few needed parts later, if you were to ask him about the idea he would say no way!
Oh and I love the car!!! looks super similair to mine, and mine will be boosted someday, I have a start on some parts already.

Tough it out. You will regret getting rid of your prelude. Especially a 4th gen, they are mint.
I'd die to have your turbo parts (but needless to say I couldn't even come remotely close to being able to afford them) and like the people above said you won't get even half of the money you put into it.
Also you will Never get back the time you've invested in it. No matter what, you've already past the PONR (point of no return, sounds like ****, but not exactly
).
You need to budget some how man and make it work.
Most of all you gotta finish it. I would be loosing my mind if I had your setup and couldn't quite finish it to be able to actually test drive it out on a course. It would probably be better than sex I'm guess'timating
DON'T go and ***** out! lol
That's my .003 cents for what its worth
Whats all left to do to finish it anyhow??

Man I know what you mean. Boost can get mad expensive. I am on my second build which happened because of bad oil seal. Basically I had to buy a brand new turbo, manifold, downpipe, and gaskets. Anyway I would hang in there man. I didnt have my car for like a month when it was under the knife. But it was all worth it. Boost is just fun... makes you wanna smile
. If you cant afford the toy right now... part it out. That is the best way to make all most of your money back. Please! just hang in there. Your setup looks like it will get you a good 270+whp on stock block. Good luck

Wow guys! Thanks for the much needed support. I'm not a fan of starting something you can't finish so all of this talk of me selling her is hard for me.
You guys are starting to make me reconsider.
Everything is pretty much set. We just can't get it to idle and work properly with the 880 injectors and the p06 ecu. It seems the TPS has no effect when using the new ecu. No throttle response at all. However, when we use to stock (P13) ecu we get proper throttle response. Here's the weird thing...we can unplug the TPS and we're still able to rev.
It also seems like the 3bar map sensor has no effect on the idle or drivability at all (plugged or not plugged). Yet it's reading proper signal, ground, and 5v. On top of that, it runs fine with the stock injectors and stock ecu...It runs very rich (black smoke) but it runs.
We check continuity from the ecu to the TPS and we're getting continuity. We even tried running wires direct from the TPS straight to the ecu and we turned it while reading the Ohms meter and the numbers are correct...but when we unplug it we're still able to rev...I don't get it?
How is this possible?
I'm at a lost here.

You don't need the tps plugged in to be able to rev the engine, what CEL codes do you get?

Hahahaha.....
I plead the 5th
(Of course I do)
I decided against it for monetary reasons mostly. I got a job with Sony Ericsson making a ton of money and took a semester off school to work full time. With the $$ I earned here (am still earning) I could have afforded an s2000 and insurance and payments and all, or I can (will) just take a semester of school WITHOUT having to wait tables at night for once.
I've been working basically full time every week since the day I turned 15 and I'm ready for a break from work if I can get one, and what better time than in college.
Besides, it made me actually go for fixing the couple of things I've needed to fix for a long time on my prelude, and I've come to love that car again.

doing something very similar to you as far as parting out the project, thought i would be able to afford the s2k as a DD and foot the bill for the Boosted SH, so ultimately i made my dad take over the payments and now i can drive that when i go to the beach to visit him...
it's a good DD man, and insurance isn't as bad as you might think... not much more than my SH.
Very tough decision though, killer car man... good luck in your decision making
