my hood release cable doesn't work anymore...... pull the lever, nothing happens.

how can i get it open? i looked in the helms, there's a picture of the mechanism but it doesn't mention how to do anything with it.

i really need to get this thing open!

 

Whenever you do get it open cut out the latch and put hood pins in.

 

Are you sure this is the REAL reason why you want to learn how to open a hood .

Is there any resistance when you pull the lever? If not make sure that the cable isn't just disconnected from the release lever under the dash.

 

if you take your front end off, then you can take a screw driver and loosen the bolts that hold down the hood latch, then take a flathead and pop it open.

 

got it open... not going to say how easy it was and what it took since it could only encourage people to screw around with peoples cars!

but i didn't have to take the grille or front end off.

 

The ease of this maneuver is one of the reasons Hondas where amongst the top stolen cars in the nation years ago.
