Default Ls motor in 96- up civic good mileage?

I have a Honda Prelude that I'm thinkin about selling for a gas saver. Here's my plan:

Sell 2000 base Lude for about 7K.

Buy 96-2000 four door civic LX or better

swap in LS motor for more torque.

Question here: Do you guys think its a good idea to do this swap if my intentions are to get good torque, but moderate gas mileage in comparison with an LS or GS integra?

i dont wanna get a DC, i'd rather jus get a four door civic. hahaha more trunk space!

The ls motor will get better mileage then if its in an integra. Not substantial, but it is a lighter car. I have a 97 dx 4 door just waiting for a clean swap to come along.

imo i would get the DC, or EK

I love my ek its the best DD ever, its like a car/truck/minvan all into one. It has plenty of space, way more than that four door. Plus its got so many aftermarket parts, just incase you wanted to make it look a little nicer. Even though it looks good stock, and it saves gas. You could also probably buy either of the 2 with less than what your going to do, and have money left over.

Yeah, this car is meant to be a lil beefier than a stock civic. However, I don't plan to make it any faster, maybe more efficient in the future. Aesthetically, of course i will try to make it look better.

I see that you two are at least getting better than 30 miles to the gallon. an Integra LS gets around 28 average mpg, so what do other people get with this swap in a 4 door civic or similar? I want to get a better idea.
