05' RSX - Have you ever seen this happen??!
OK I have 2 questions:
Check out the cracks in the stock intake... how does this happen?
AND
Does anyone have a stock intake pipe they're looking to get rid of? I can pay for shipping? If not, lemme know how much u tryna get for it.
Need it shipped to San Diego
thanks

Put some tape over the tube and drive to the dealer. As long as the car is stock you won't have a problem.
But, my guess is that it has been modded somehow. Spill the beans...

Again...Take it to the dealer. Why do you want to fix something yourself when the car is under warranty still? There may be other problems too...why risk it?

Because we probably aren't getting the entire story

Yeah, that was my initial thought.
I've seen abused 88 Civics with 250K miles and worn motormounts and that rubber intake tube wasn't cracked.

Right, but the OP claims the car is stock and always has been. That's why we question the story and also why he seems to be avoiding the dealer

No, the car is all stock and still under warranty so that's where it's going today. Not that I was avoiding the dealer, juss figured one of you guys might know what could have happened cuz I sure don't. And with all ur mods, one of you would at least have a stock intake lying around but that doesn't seem to be the case so its all good. The car isn't raced or abused and is purely stock so we'll see wut story the techs at the dealer can come up with.
Thanks anyways and I could understand if this was an ongoing thread that lasted a few days or weeks that you would be able to conclude I was avoiding the dealer and not coming clean about the situation. But it hasn't been a full day yet and since dealers are closed on Sundays I figure I'd be able to get better answers from here. But anyways, thanks for the responses and have fun conjuring up stories to relate this to racing and car abuse =P

1) Look at your hoses, your tab alignments, etc...someone has had that intake off. They just don't tear by themselves in a stock place with such a new car.
2) We question you because why would someone want to pay for an OEM part when they could go back to the dealer and get it replaced for free.

dry rot? It's not wood it's plastic, plastic doesn't dry rot. Plastic becomes brittle over time but being an 05 rsx that's a bit odd.
Todd is right. Someone messed with the intake. Look, one of the bolts for the air box is missing, the tube isn't aligned correctly, someone must've took the intake off or took the lid off to replace the filter and did a half *** job putting things back together.
