Default Castrol Syntec 0w-30

Ok guys, Ive read previous threads and heard great things about this oil. Been using Mobil 1 and it burns a bit for me, so Im really interested in trying this out. Problem is I can't find it anywhere. The Vatozone never carries it so is there anywhere online I can purchase it??

0-30 sounds pretty thin unless you live in a very cold climate.

it's a 30 grade oil when warm. the 0 just means it's pourable when it's freezing cold outside, aka if you're in a michigan winter storm and your car is left out overnight, the oil in the engine won't freeze.

it's (castrol 0w30 made in germany) actually on the thick side for a 30 grade oil, so i'd assume it'd be great for track days.

try amsoil 0w30. it's supposed to be slightly thinner than their older formulation, and should increase hp and mileage for daily driving of your itr. you should also be able to extend time between oil changes.

personally, i'm not a fan of mobil oil, unless we're talking the 0w40 syn, which is on the thin side for a 40 grade oil, but i don't recommend running such a thick oil on your ITR unless you're boosted or something.

I'm having trouble finding it myself.

Synthetic 5w30 is the best I'm finding:

EDIT:
Check out Oreillys:

*No stores in my area had this oil*

Pretty sure only the 0-w30 comes in the European Formula. There's 3 Autozones in my city and only one of them had it. I've been running it for 6k miles with no problems. Gonna do an oil change here soon and see what it looks like/how much is left.

That was one of my questions, because I know you have the check the container for "made in germany" etc.

I don't have much info on Neo 0w-30. However, I ran across this article here: http://www.bimmerinfo.com/amso...3.htm
It's pretty biased towards Amsoil though, but the 0w-30 Neo is in the testing.

<---- Amsoil 0-20 is what I use in the track car. Don't burn a drop and oil was still "clean" after 2 days at CMP.

The DD after it's "surgery" will only use Amsoil 5-30 synthetic.

The bias comment was merely a disclaimer. I read the article and I liked what the data said. Where do you buy your Amsoil from?

can someone tell me how much Amsoil costs you guys?

the sole UK distributor wants £65 for 6 litres of the 0w-20, which is like $130 for nearly 6 quarts

I believe we sell it for around $8.20 USD a qt but I'd have to confirm. This is bottle purchase prices, not case prices.

I'm running the Castrol 0-w30 Euro, but was thinking about trying something else next time. I'm not sure if I want to pay $2 more per quart for the Amsoil though.

Dave, care to sway me towards the Amsoil?
