Thinking about getting an Optima battery for the R
Having battery troubles with the R, its my drive to work car, but havent been to work in about 6 weeks, I've started it about once a week. Went to move the car two days ago and it was dead, had to jump start it. Left it outside last night, started it today, it started but was a little shakey. I've always had issues when I dont drive the car for 5-7 days and it doesnt have a nice clean start. I can't remember when I last changed it, been at least 3-4 yrs.
I'm thinking about going with an Optima battery, just wanted opinions of people who are using them or have used them in their R's? TIA!

I use the deep cycle yellow top. My alarm was pulling so much juice that the caR after 3 days of sitting would lose its power. It seems to do the job although it is very heavy.
I wouldn't get it.
I had a bad experience with one, and so did several other people.
Mine died about 5 days prior to the 1 year warranty expiring.
They are not like regular batteries, there is no warning, no "my lights are getting dimmer", or "my car is getting harder to start", it just dies one day.
You will be sad.

I have to say I'll never buy another Optima battery again. Mine lasted almost a year before cutting out and I've heard the same thing from WAY too many people. I dropped $130 on that thing and it was a waste. I've been using a $40 battery from Autozone for over three years now without a problem.
for Optima.
for Optima.
don't even think about optima batteries...one local dealer i went to stop dealing with optimas since alot of their customers came back a few months or so with dead batteries and their warranties only covers from the date of manufactured and not from the date of sales..the guy recommended me these batteries http://www.svrbatteries.com/audio_line.html and now i'm loving it...having a 2600watts rms system in my car with a decent 5 farad cap...my lights won't even dim when blasting the system...http://www.svrbatteries.com/do...n.pdf
EDIT: oh did i mention it only cost me $60 bucks compare to optimas $130?

I was warned. This morning, after 2 years of service my Optima crapped out on me. It was the small discontinued yellow top. I just went down to Sears and got a Die Hard gold and was 30 mins late for work.
If you want a conventional battery, get one at Costco. They sell batteries under their Kirkland house brand, and they're made by Johnson Controls, a major battery manufacturer (and yes, they make the Optima, for what that's worth). Their batteries come with a really long warranty (100 months, IIRC). And it's around $42 or so. When I needed a battery for my ITR, I shopped everywhere - Sears, the dealer, Autozone, Costco, Sam's Club, Wal-Mart, etc - and the Costco battery was a good $15-20 less than the cheapest one I could find anywhere else. So that's what I got, put it in myself, and it's been working fine.
If you want a lightweight battery, you can get an Odyssey PC925T for $157.79 or an Odyssey PC680T for $125.52, both prices from Portable Power Systems. You might want to get the PC925T, which is larger and has more CCA, if you live in an area that has cold winters.

That sucks man, I've never been late in my entire time of working for any job, and don't plan to, I think I'd feel like straight **** if I were late.

I'm going to try that super lightweight Braile battery, only because I'm getting a great deal on one. I'll post up initial thoughts here...
