Default CRX d15b vtec clutch choice & lightened flywheel &si trans mpg questions

I have an 89 crx dx which I put a d15bvtec motor in about 20k miles ago. I used the stock tranny and a new clutch. I have gotten about 37mpg combined and up to 45mpg highway.

I recently had some major problems and removed the engine and tranny to find the clutch destroyed. The metal surrounding the springs bent out and gouged several places.

is this a problem of a stock dx clutch being used on a stronger motor?? If so, what should I go with that isnt too expensive?

Next question is that a friend of mine told me about a local shop which sells a "lightened flywheel" for about 100 dollars. im guessing it is a lightened stock flywheel. I am looking at half that to get the stocker machined. Is this a good idea and if so, what changes would I notice?

Last question I promise.

I have an SI transmission which supposedly has a LSD as well. I have not used this tranny and as such have no idea if it works. If I install this one and it does work, what differences would I see over the stock DX transmission mpg and performance wise?? I do a fair amount of highway travelling to and from work as well.

THANKS!!!

I get about 38 mixed MPG with my D15b. This is with an SI tranny. You have to get a clutch kit that matches your tranny. I think they changed the spline count in the 90-91 cars.

Right now I have an excedy organic in the car. Identical to a stock clutch, but the price was right.

Innes, did you have problems with the stock flywheel bolts not being long enough by any chance?

I get 32 mpg with my D15b, Si tranny, and the Exedy organic clutch with 7.5lb fidanza flywheel. Engine is mildly built, but mpg is still good.
