Default broken frame mount

well all of a sudden my alternator started hitting the frame when i go into reverse sometime and when i go around sharp corners. i was int he garage one day workin on my car and i notice the passangers side motor mount were its welded to the frome has cracked and is almost all the way disconnected. has anyone had this problem before? there is no rust or anyhting in that area so i dont kno why it did it. its just a clean crack like somone cut it. il post up pics latter after i get out of work.

grind off the spot welds and take it completely off.

Go to the autowreckers with a chordless drill and drill out the welds on your new mount

weld the new one in and you're done.

might have to take off the tranny.. but that's the gist of it.

Pretty easy fix as mentioned above. Your options are drill out the spotwelds/do as mentioned above and weld in a new mount...or go K/H series .

lol, upon closer inspection though...

I didn't notice before because I posted in a rush (saw the thread and had to do something), but that's the first time I've ever seen a frame crack like that. Does your car have cancer/been in a collision before? Pretty much the same fix, but you may need to cut and patch a panel on that rail with thicker or equivalently gauged steel. A bit more complex than lining up the spotwelds and welding, but if this is a low HP application you might as well give it a try just to learn.

Good luck with the repairs!
