Definitely not an EK9. It's most likely an EJ, because I think the SIR in Canada is an EM1. Look at your vin plate and find out. Easier than asking and waiting for a reply. The chassis code starts after the 3rd or 4th number which will be something like HG1 or something along those lines.

Just read your VIN.

Your fourth, fifth and sixth VIN digits are your chassis code.

No matter what engine you swap into your car or what you do to it, it will NOT change to another chassis code.

EK9s are all '97-'01 Civic Type R hatchbacks. They are all from Japan and were originally sold in Japan. They all originally had the B16B in them. None of them came with other engines.

EM1s are all '99-'00 Civic coupes that originally came with a B16A or B16A2. They were sold in the US, Canada and Europe (possibly some other markets). They were known as the Si (US), SiR (Canada) and VTi (Europe). None of them came with any other motor.

If you have a Canadian market Civic Si, you have an EJ8. It's basically the same as the USDM Civic EX.

Your VIN should probably start either with 1HGEJ8, 1HGEJ6 or 1HGEM1. You can see the chassis code in each of those combinations.
