Adding ABS, GSR > EJ1.. Anybody here done it?
Hello all. I'm trying to find what parts it would take & how difficult it would be to add antilock brakes to my '93 Civic EX coupe. I know this car was offered with optional 4-wheel disc ABS and could just buy all the parts from Honda, but I have a cheaper and stronger alternative.
I have a '95 Integra GS-R coupe and would like to know if its possible to just do a complete swap between the two cars braking systems, just leaving the actual braking assemblies on each car (calipers, discs etc since the Civic has DC2-R brakes already)
Could I just swap EVERYTHING? Hardlines, 1" MC, booster & prop valve, ABS pump, computer, fuse box, chassis harness and all? I'd really like the car to have ABS when my engine build is complete; it'll definitely benefit more from the ABS than the stock GS-R. My Civic has the best non-ABS brakes anyways, I added the 15/16" MC and ITR front brakes so its not a huge downgrade for the GS-R. I hope its possible.
Thanks in advance, Al.

*****.. Well, that could leave me with 3 feasible options, ranked from what I feel is the least practical to most...
1.) Buy another Honda/Acura with ABS, sell current '93 Civic EX.
2.) Just buy all the necessary parts that came on the 94-95 Civic EX coupes with 4-wheel disc ABS and install them on my car.
3.) Attempt a complete changeover of braking systems between the Civic & the Integra GS-R. I really am considering this, since the GS-R is just my comfortable cruiser and is never driven hard or often enough to warrant needing ABS.
Thanks.

it seems to me like ABS would make more sense on a car driven on city streets, where things can happen without warning, like some idiot driver cutting you off and you having to suddenly brake quickly.
That is, unless you race your Civic wheel-to-wheel with other drivers on road race courses. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't bother trying to retrofit the system.
