92-95 Civic - ABS brakes vs Non-ABS brakes
Hello honda-techers,
I am in the market of replacing my passenger side knuckles (due to it being bent).
I have noticed that there were options for ABS brakes for 92-95 civic (EX-S to be exact).
I am wondering and have a few questions.
1) Is there any legitimate difference (physically) of putting ABS brakes onto the front vs NON-ABS brakes? (I do realize there are different part #'s, but I am looking into putting some 94-01 integra brakes on there, most of them out there seem to be ABS).
2) If installing ABS, what exactly is entailed? (I understand wiring will need to be done, new ABS cpu, brake lines, mounting, etc)
3) What do you recommend going with for replacement, an ABS setup or Non-ABS setup? (My car is currently a 95 civic coupe DX non ABS, I <3 ABS but I may not want to go through the hassle of replacing items).
4) Also, what else should I check for condition of before purchasing the brakes? (I know there there is the knuckle itself, lower ball joint, wheel bearing).
Thanks for your time and reading this. I look forward to you replies.

you can put ABS stuff on your civic, just dont hook it up.
i hate ABS
i put rear discs from a 95 ex with abs, on my hatch.
just cut the wires off

rick rabies and 92ehatch only gave an opinion on one part. no real info.
ABS is an advanced traction system designed first for assisting the race driver under harsh conditions when objects or liquids separate the tires rotation from the track making breaks useless when they are needed the most. to regain traction, the breaking system under your control, shudders at 900 rpm to break the surface of objects like sand or liquid to generate friction. to regain steering from car rotation and to control the inertia the body of the car had generated. other applications are both driving and racing in icy weather, heavy rain and breaking, down steep hills. If your car is lightly built and not intended on a track with or with out dirt or sand or in any weather other than rain or light snow. (driving at or above a normal speed) the benefits are worth a lot of lives and time including mine.
I have two EGs, 95 ex w abs and has saved my life and minimized damage in accidentes a few times and a 93 hatch. both vtec both built but my hatch does not have abs and hi speed cornering is not fun when your sliding off the road trying to take the out side and find your self slidding on some light sand.
I am in the middle of installing the ABS from a ex I used to drive. the computer in the ex system will be a little tricky to wire up to a non abs harness but nothing more than a couple hours. I often find all the abs parts in junkyards. Mostly over looked by younger front w drive Honda owners. Honda manuals on hondahookup.com and a little time to re run the wiring ect. it's what you are into and how you intend to drive. from a local pick and pull the ABS system cost $60. plus the cost of new abs rotors. have fun break en hard.
