I should have asked before buying but... is a T3 Super 60 .63 too laggy for a B16A2?

I was told by a few that the .48 would spool very early and run out of breath in the upper RPM range like 7K. So the obvious choice is to select the other model which is the .63 but some guy on CSi is saying it will be laggy as hell. I am worried if I made a bad choice. I did some research and I came up with a B18 setup that would be similar to what I want.

I do not know how to properly read dyno graphs but it looks alright to me. I want it to be fuel efficient as well so if I don't need boost, I can just stay under 4K? The guy claim the .63 spools insanely fast on his GSR... so it should spool "fast" on a B16 then right?

My friend's old car was a 90 hatch with a B16A with a svo turbo, 60trim T3, .63ar stg1 exhaust. It made 250whp (or 275) at 9psi, spooled fast like that dyno graph, and held its power to redline.

To read that graph, you would see it makes full boost a little before where the blue lines change at 3k and 3.5k (different boost levels), and tapers off slowly due mostly to restrictions of adding more gases to a fixed exhaust size (volumetric efficiency). A B16 would hit full boost a little later, and likely hold power for longer.

People claim that turbo's too small, and I claim I'm the king of France

I just got my super 60 with .63 exhaust housing a couple days ago. We have one in my friends z24 cavy (2000 i think?) and it's awsome. Holds power well and spools quick. Putting it on my built sohc. I like them, best of both worlds if you ask me.

if you think that turbo is laggy you are crazy. depending on your goals, it could very well be too small, especially if you are gonna run it on a built motor. i think its a good turbo for a quick response street car

i think you would have been happier with a t3t04e 57 trim. my buddy is running one on his b16 it spools pretty quick and he made 260whp and 173wtq on 8lbs. peakboost setup.

that's a good turbo for a mild D series build. There's a reason everyone has t3/t4s on B series.

Yeah, for the mid 400whp most of them will probably never try to make.

I am not knocking a t3/t4 on a B, they work awesome and with the right stage and trim wheels, are still excellent street turbos, I've wrenched on and tuned a few of them, but for a low boost, pumpgas only street B car, a super 60, hell even a 60 trim T3, is still an awesome choice, especially if you're going to be auto-crossing the car. That torque curve looks almost like an NA car.
